My thoughts and experience riding LiveWire Del Mar Launch Edition well over 1,000 miles.
This video is pretty comprehensive, range, cost, and ergonomics are all touched on. But of course, if you have any questions, comment below.

Nice! I never was into motorcycles, but that changed after elmotorcycles hit the marked. That bike stunning.

Nice video! One of the better S2 Del Mar videos from an actual owner and not a demo day ride. I'm glad you talked about how Level 2 Charging isn't the end of the world. DC Fast Chargers (non-Tesla network) generally suck. I've experienced it first hand and how every charger but 1 will be working at site. For an urban motorcycle and non-road trip vehicle, level 2 is great. Also.. cheaper. I do wish the S2 had a slightly faster Level 2 charger, sounds like it's about 4kw? Not sure what your experience may be so far.

Great, 1000 miles thoughts. I’m not too far behind you on miles on my non-launch edition, lol As you probably know, I’m commuting the heck out of my bike, and it makes a really excellent commuter (80-150 miles rt). One of the best I’ve ever had. That being said, I had to plan out my routes and do a lot of planning to my commute with support this type of riding. Very similar to what you do daily.

Still on the fence between the Livewire One or the Del Mar. I enjoyed the test ride on the LiveWire one and its forward seating position as it keeps the pressure off my lower back. I hope they will come out with an update and a small refresh to the One.

Level 2 chargers in EU, most of the time have no tethered cable. It's inconvenient to pack a cable on this. So here L3 would be better over a coffee. Would like these rims on my ELW.

It's a handsome and well-built machine, but the combination of the limited range and the absence of DC fast charging severely limits the utility of it outside of the city. As someone who lives in a small town amongst farms and suburban sprawl, the HD ELW/LW1 just better meets my needs. I love my 2020 Livewire. With that said, I might add a used Del Mar at some point.

S2 Del Mar in its current form is well suited for the urban sprawl. If it supported DC Fast Charging it would eat into LW1 sales!

@@prestondreynolds no doubt. Until then, the LW1 is the best all around electric motorcycle you can buy.

good video, but the price compared to a CRC or a Ryvid Anthem is significantly more for a comparable bike. But I'd be interested in your thoughts on the Ryvid Anthem

Those two bikes aren't going to compare even remotely close to this. They're going to be significantly slower and have significantly less range. They also don't have level two charging and Don't have nearly as many features. Essentially they are fancy looking scooters. It would be more fair to compare those two bikes to a zero FXE which would still walk all over both of them.

After the Delmar it's time for Livewire to start designing and refining an even lighter cross motorcycle like a Surron, Talaria etc. I believe they already have a prototype.

The fact that" focusing on the clutch", is an issue, worries me. Imagine the new kids with a shifter, clutch, and gps/ or handlebar mounted phone , built in stereo, mode control, etc. Not knocking, great review, plenty of "old" bikes, way cheap , do a great job. But, the world is changing. " Horses will never be replaced."😏Bought a new 2023 xr 150 from Lejeune Motorsports, in Jacksonville, N.C. , the owners manual was missing like 6 pages. They got me a new one for free, but, the little1/4" thick, pocket manual, had a 49.95 price tag on it. Gimme some old, well maintained bikes. ( got a few, they are great.)

How‘s the single front rotor stacking up against the LW1 with its dual rotors?
@prestondreynolds
@prestondreynolds 8 ай бұрын
The single rotor generates just enough braking force for this bike. You will definitely feel a difference.

I really like this bike but i dont think i could every justify £16,000 on a bike that is just mainly for the city, i know you could do longer trips with planning. You could also buy a mini honda or something else for 4-8k. I know its not the same but that gap is just too huge for me at the mo.

Zero FXE would be the closest competitor I think. Another new urban electric wo DC fast charging.

Direct comparisons don’t make sense. They’re designed for different use cases. Pricing and specs clearly make that distinction.

I have ridden both back to back... the One takes itself very seriously, it is surprisingly aggressive with its geometry and acceleration feels similar (better on the Del Mar, but they both have the same pace). Given the option, I would buy the Del Mar just because of how much fun it is to ride. I enjoyed both though. I would love to see a slightly larger version with slightly more range, but it is what it is. For commuting, the Del Mar, hands down. For long trips, the One. For the canyons... whatever you prefer, they bare both awesome.

Must be an US taste thing but I don't understand those big wheels from a practical standpoint. 17 inch wheels and tires would be a lot lighter, cheaper and nimble in a city environment. Since electric motorcycles are always comparitively heavy this would make a lot more sense. Having that weight advantage invested in batteries would extend the range. Clearly a matter of marketing coming before common sense. Now build one with smaller wheels plus second generation battery technology to it (solid state?) and things woudl certainly be different. If we are lucky in 5 to 10 years. Otherwise kudo's for Harleys / Lifewires long term vision.

I was surprised how well it handled with the larger wheels. It was very "throwable" in corners. I rode it around downtown Los Angeles, the throttle response is spot on, and the torque was absolutely giggle inducing. That being said, my caveat is that I am used to large wheels because I typically ride an Africa Twin with a 21 inch front tire.
@marcbrasse747

@@localfishinghole Not as much a problem as I might make it. Marketing induced cool wil indeed have been more important here. It's just that I am a sucker for optimized designs. 🙂
