Growing up I just wanted a modest house on 5 acres. 300k dollar property growing up. Now that's nearly a million. Only option is to move somewhere more Bumfuck than Christiana or Watertown and hope you can buy a couple acres and build a double wide or trailer or tiny home.

I bought my 1300 sq ft home in East Nashville in 2017 for 220k. It could probably now sell for 450k. My invome has maybe increased by 15k a year in those 6 years. I feel bad for those who grow up here and make a decent 60k to 80k a year. That used to mean something. Now its maybe a foot in the door with very creative financing and you better be ready to rent every extra room you have.

Nashville has chosen profit over people a very long time ago. Natives of this city and area literally get pushed out of their own hometowns. Its absurd and fuckin sad! I can no longer afford to rent anywhere by myself within the area ive grown up my entire life. Now its rich people and mostly rich out of towners that live within the "metropolitan area" of davidson county. Mostly people transitioning here from similar cities that have progressed far enough to out price even people who make a good salary/get paid mroe than the average here in TN. The city could not care less about the people that live in it/were born in it and make it what it is, or what appears to be to the people that are migrating here and arent familiar with the way the city used to be/has been for the last hundred years, up until this very moment where its changing for the absolute worst and relentlessly so at that. Its not slow progression towards any other shithole city, its full blown all steam ahead. Money is the only care of the people that "run" this city, people can and have been being forced from their homes because of the costs if everything going up astronomically and the average pay rates are NOT going up accordingly. Nashville is now for rich people and thats it. Yuppie, entitled, well to do, moneys no care kind of people. Pretty fuckin lame, on every level. Especially if a person can even remember ten years ago here. Much less twenty, or thirty, or fifty! These new transplants dont even have a clue all the values and history and the things that made this place what it is today! The people thst build this very city and its buildings/infrstructure, those people cant afford to live within the entirety of davidson fucking county! Its a complete sham of a southeastern city, all values and unseen efforts to create this place get tossed aside for an extra dollar for those rich fucks pockets who "run" the city and its laws/govt. Its all a joke. Life is not what it seems to be here when youre just now experiencing this city and you dont have a reference for what it used to be, even a few short years ago. "Nashville" blows. Life outside this city is WAY better for anyones soul, and their wallets. And dignity/piece of mind. Civilization isnt the only answer to make a "living" or to provide for yourselves as humans.

Honestly any Nashville native over 50 yrs of age is to bland for this, they could've voted to keep the transplants especially the two from NY off the city planning board. When they said they wanted to make Nashville the NYC of the south, those over 50 should've voted to get rid of the city planning board. What makes it worse is those of us from Nashville that move to what we consider rural areas, we end up driving up their cost of living and pushing their natives out. This state is going to keep going until I guess there's no native Tennesseans in TN.

What do these people do all day to allow a stranger to tour their home at some random hour in the day?. I work 12 hours then only have 4 hours of “free time” in which someone can “tour my home”. But yet I am still broke lol. This world

It is pretty expensive in Nashville. Our rent went up almost double in 5 years so we got out. This is also a damn penthouse right on church street downtown, a block from the Ryman and a couple from Broadway, figured it would be even pricier

If it’s any comfort to my southern friends , same thing is happening to us on the beach towns and surrounding inland towns up and down the east coast . Watched my hometown change so much that only the richest kids growing up can now live there. It’s a damn shame

I wanted to hate this dude cuz I hate what Nashville has become and basically anyone who moves here, but he seems like an interesting dude. Hearing that he is an antiques dealer and some evil finance dude or in marketing was a breath of fresh air. He’s got a cool collection. Having said all that, now go on and git! Git!
