Weather is such a underestimated factor which is extremely important when choosing a place where you want to live for a long period of time.

I lived in Melbourne for over a decade and currently live in Toronto for over a year now. Just basing it on these two cities, Australia is much better. Weather and people are friendlier, it’s cleaner and has overall better infrastructure. Melbourne is cheaper and more laidback. In general from my experience Australia seems more developed, looks and feels newer, better wages. People on average has higher standard of living. Overall the quality of life is better in Australia.

i lived all over canada i lived in toronto, greater vancouver, hamilton, around niagra falls, in and around moncton and saint john. i honestly like it here. i like how canada's geography is so diverse and different. i like how on the west coast you have mountains, rain forest and beautiful beaches and vancouver island.

We do see freezing temperatures, just not in most major cities. There are some anomalies with Aussie weather. The continent gets more snow than Switzerland annually and Canberra, Australia's capital, generally gets 3 x more days of frost than the capital of England, London. Towns in central highlands of NSW and Victoria see Vancouver type weather.

I'm a Colombian living in Melbourne and so far the good things about here are the salaries are good even if you work in cleaning or hospitality they pay good wages. The weather is very flexible even Melbourne that has "the worst" weather is OK. Here the summer is very short, is supposed to start in December but you rarely make it to the beach during that month. January and February and part of March are the sunny hot months here in Melbourne. Apart from that you won't see the sun until September lol as he was saying in the video there are no extreme temperatures here, the coldest you can feel in Melbourne is minus 1 and that 's like a major event here and happens like one day. Other parts of Australia are hot all year around I have seen people in Queensland going to the beach on July. The people is very friendly but I find them distant I mean they are really nice to you but that doesn't mean they are your BFF I have find that more on aussies who spend their life traveling the world. Otherwise they tend to be more focused in their family and friends. The transport system here in Melbourne is very convenient. The coffee culture is insane. I think you won't find it anywhere else. Also the vegan and plant based culture is growing up enormously recently. I am not a sports person but here people really love sports and exercise and not for vanity but for their health. You are always going to see someone jogging, riding the bike, swimming, playing tenis or footy. I personally take that as a lesson. I have not seen much of the world but the landscapes here are breathtaking. Yes there is not much mountains and bushes ( something I miss from Colombia) but the fact that you can just take the train and spent the day at the beach is awesome. Now the bad thing is the immigration system is a nightmare, to get even PR is difficult not everyone gets it that easy unless you are an IT engineer. I myself have been here 5 years and my chances of PR and way far away, it takes years. Also the housing market is crazy expensive. Even for renting. I am sick living with Flatmates but cannot afford something just for myself at the moment.Travel to other counties is expensive and far. Travelling within Australia is also expensive and to some part of the country way to far. I look forward to move to Canada also cause is closer to Colombia, the only thing that terrifies me is the cold and even though I am from Bogota (also know as"The Fridge") I have never been exposed to such weather. I do not love love the heat so that is something I won't miss much about here. Canadian immigration system is friendlier and also I have done my research and found things about Canada that I really like for example the film and TV industry wich is my expertise area and the ton of major cities that Canada has. Wich I prefer more. In regards health care I can't say much. As I am on a temporary visa I do not have access to medicare but I have heard that is good compared to other countries. I guess I will have to go to Canada and see with my own eyes I am pretty sure is really good place.

Regarding Hockey; one should realise that in Australia Hockley is "Field Hockey'" while the Hockey referred to in this video is "Ice Hockey" and I must point out that PNG (Papua New Guinea) is actually the closest foreign nation to Australia (by about 3 kilometres if I remember correctly. I have lived in both countries in Melbourne and Perth in Australia and Vancouver, Edmonton and Toronto in Canada. Over all I found Canada to be more advanced and more modern as it isn't so isolated and is very close to the center of everything (US) I also found the quality of houses and neighborhoods to be much higher In Canada, Australia is a nice place but Canada is very highly developed, even more than my homeland the UK. Also in Edmonton/Calgary Alberta everything was so cheap compared to the UK and Australia and was of much better quality than australia/comparable to UK (in some ways) . I’m 47 and Australian born and bred , I live half way between Brisbane and the Gold Coast in Queensland we drive down to Melbourne and various places in Victoria at least once a year sometimes more to visit relatives on my mother’s side,occasionally we’ll fly if it’s a wedding or a funeral and we can only stay a couple of days, some of my earliest childhood memories are of road trips to visit the rellies (relatives)at Christmas. And as far as highways connecting the capital cities are concerned l do believe all our capital cities are connected by the 2nd longest highway in the world at 14500km long, so kinda curious where you got the idea that you can’t drive where ever you want to drive to in this country,that’s just simply incorrect. And if ya want take a few days or more to get to Melbourne from Brisbane along the coast highway instead of the inland highway you would not believe the beauty of the places on beaches and campsites that you can find to stay overnight or longer. I don’t mean to sound like I’m roasting ya but what you said about driving had me sitting here shaking my head saying “what!”

Great points. I'm an Aussie but have always felt at home in Canada. I think we definitely share that Commonwealth vibe. I do think Canadians are extra polite in terms of giving way to pedestrians in supermarket car parks or pedestrians crossing at random points on the road away from marked crossings. In Australia, I feel as though if you're a pedestrian and you're not meant to be there, you wait until there's a gap in the traffic. In Vancouver, the minute I put one foot down off the "sidewalk" (footpath) to wait for a break in the traffic, all the traffic comes to a halt. It makes me quite self-conscious. Also love how all the parking stations are called "Parcades". Also, Aussie's love the snow. We have a few ski fields ourselves, but the ski season is relatively short -- 2-3 months if we're lucky. So Canada is awesome for snow. So it's no wonder when you arrive at Whistler, every second accent you hear is Aussie. No wonder you feel at home :)

Canada is a beautiful country: the great white north! But Canadians are very “American-like” they have very similar accents and culturally are also very similar. Although Canadians are not America’s biggest fans, they can’t help but compare Canada to the US. Canadians always point out to their healthcare system as a major superiority they have over the US.

Also culturally Canada is similar to Australia than people think, they enjoy golf, soccer, tennis, rugby and cricket more than USA although cricket in Canada is not as popular as in Australia honestly. Also in terms of floor counting 🇨🇦 and 🇦🇺 use G 1 2 3 and 1 2 3 4 at the same time. Also their employment opportunities are more similar to each other compared to 🇺🇸 or 🇳🇿 or the rest of the 🗺 though Canada has somewhat more employment opportunities.

I question you know very much about Australia if you don't know about Highway M1 which literally goes 14,500km around Australia. I've driven Melbourne to Perth - that's the diameter of the moon - four times. The Nullarbor plain has the longest straight stretch of road in the world at 187km. Our Canadian relatives told us to fly 400km from Toronto to Thunder Bay, don't hire a car and drive - which is an easy half day drive in Oz. In Canada distances tend to be marked in hours - like new Zealand due to less highways maajor A roads.. Canadian roads are much worse due to frost damage and obviously mountains and large bodies of water make extensive roadworks harder. There's extensive road networks in Australia. You can drive Melbourne to Uluru or to Darwin without leaving bitumen, and between all capitals. Our cousins from Ont. Canada called our roads billiard tables. In Canada we were told you fly in a big plane then a little plane then a tiny plane. The train service in Canada is cheaper than flying - just less convenient. Canada is way more expensive than Australia, sales tax is much higher and not shown on price tags unlike Australia. Fuel and cars are cheaper, but food is much dearer. You do not find the variety or quality of restaurant food available in Melbourne even in Vancouver or Toronto. It was bemusing to find many Australian baristas running 'Melbourne -style' cafes, even offering flat whites. Medicare does not cover you for as much and PBS prices for drugs are higher. Personal taxation seems lower but social services like unemployment not so comprehensive. Tipping is more prevalent in Canada presumably due to a lower minimum wage. Canada is more progressive in some ways with same sex marriage and marijuana both being legalised much sooner. In other ways - the dual language issue - not so much. Indigenous affairs on the surface Canada is ahead with First Nations treaties but it seems the same issues around dispossession and institutional abuse occurred. I'd happily live in Canada I'm the summer. Winter - not so much. It isn't only the cold, but travel restrictions, outdoor occupations like builders being restricted to five months and having to work six day, twelve or fourteen hour days a week.

Australia and Canada have something else in common as well which is much less desirable - namely two of the most unaffordable housing markets in the entire western world. ....and for the same reasons . Most of the land mass in both countries is uninhabitable. In Australia the vast wastelands are desert with almost no water supply. In Canada, the wastelands are permanently iced. By necessity, the majority of Australians have to live around the coastline. In Canada, most people live in a narrow ribbon along the US border. This situation results in chronically high levels of intense urbanisation in just a few cities......Toronto, Vancouver etc in Canada......Sydney and Melbourne in Australia. Neither country is like the US or the UK where they have major cities across the length and breadth of their nation . Australians and Canadians simply don't have many options in regard to where they can live and work. This places enormous pressure on the housing markets in the aforementioned cities. Housing costs are VERY high in Australia. In Canada they are even worse. Honestly don't know how anyone can afford to live on an average single income in Vancouver or Toronto.

Pretty accurate, I'm from Australia and yes Canada definitely has better mountains. Mind u i'll always have a soft spot for the aussie Blue Mountains. Also, there are highways connecting all major cities in Australia, have been long before I was born. Although they may have recently upgraded the ones more frequently travelled.

Travel time isn’t really a problem for Aussies or for the Kiwis either. I’m not saying that we like the long flights. We just that we don’t let it bother us as we simply know that it’s a given. Most Aussies (& Kiwis) have passports and it’s extremely popular (before Covid-19) for our teenagers to to travel overseas (usually Asia to start off with) in their “Gap” year. That’s a year they they take off from between high school and university. Whilst it’s not most of them, it’s still a very significant proportion of our teens. And almost all of us get to fly somewhere different at least once in our lives. Aussies love to travel. And the tyranny of distance is something that we have always have had to endure. So we do it without even thinking about it. Not a bad video. But you should do some more research on the topics you wish to raise first though, as your comments about our interstate road network us a little bit off. Driving on the east coast, and even to Adelaide isn’t all that hard. But to Perth or Darwin on the other hand, now that’s a different story all together as you can die if your not prepared properly. I.E. do your homework and plan your trips so you don’t drive at night as Kangaroos at night love to jump in front of car, and that’s very very bad, think of hitting a moose. Whilst Roos are indeed much smaller, they can still write of a car, and it’s passengers. Also have some spares (fan belts, water hoses etc) and PLENTY of water (much more than you would think obvious, and to be extra safe, double that amount).

I prefer Australia for a number of reasons: - I love cold weather but outdoor leisure activities in Canada is extremely limited because of the weather. You want to play golf in December? You either have to fly to Florida or wait until Spring. In Australia you can do that all year round. - Australians are more open and genuine than Canadians (generally speaking). Canadians sugarcoat things so they avoid upsetting people whereas Australians are more direct and tell it like it is which is what I prefer. - Food and drink is far, far better in Australia. Tim Hortons has nothing on Australian coffee. Fresh produce and farmers markets are more accessible in Australia. - Canadian phone plans are probably the worst and most overpriced I've ever experienced.

Australia stretches from the equator to near Antarctica. This gives rise to incredible biodiversity. You can visit a topical rainforest, go surfing and snorkelling in warm waters, then go skiing on top of a snowy mountain. I don't know of any places other than Australia where you can go snorkelling and then go skiing without crossing an international border first.

Before you do video like this please do some research. All Australian cities are connected with highways. I agree with you interm of geography Canada has abit more, but Australia geography is much more than what you discuss in the video, there are plenty of beautiful landscapes around the country. The Whitsunday Islands and lots of tropical rainforest in Queensland and other part of Australia, the pink lake in Western Australia. Blue and Snowy mountains in new south Wales. The rocky mountain and Alps located in Victoria and new south Wales. Snow also fall in p part of Australia (perisher for example in Victoria). Interm of sports Australia out perform Canada. Australian play Rugby, Aussie rules (AFL), Cricket and many more that they dominate. As you mentioned, Canada is only known for ice hockey. The rest they either play them for fun or they just participate in them. In regards to travel. I guess Canada has advantages but going to the USA feel like going to different regions in Canada because both countries are similar interm of infrastructure, lifestyles and culture. Just like Australia and new Zealand. Canada has the Caribbean and Europe while Australia has the oceanic and Asia. Even better countries with unique culture like China, Japan, Singapore, India and UAE etc.

I live in Canada. My brother just moved to Australia. Been to Australia a couple times. Both counties have their pros and cons. Canada is more friendly towards new immigrants and is more multicultural overall. Australia is far more beautiful and has better weather. Quality of life is similar. It comes down to preference.

I'm so sorry for Canada. Most things about a good Canada are not true, Including clean cities - beaches, and forests. It's a big lie. The first time I arrived in Vancouver in 2018, I was shocked. As soon as I left the airport door, I saw tissue, disposable glasses, and other garbage left in the city. The further I went, the more I saw them. Before I moved to Canada, I lived in Georgia, Armenia, Turkey, Serbia, The United States, and for a short time in Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Netherland, Germany, and England, but I have never seen the amount of garbage that people leave in different Canadian cities. Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa, and Quebec are no less than Vancouver. Canadian and Canada Governments don't care about this tragedy. I think everything that says about Canada as a clean and powerful culture is not true. You don't need to travel to Canada to see this. Just watch some videos about walking in downtown Vancouver, Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa, and Quebec. You will find the truth. Impossible for you to walk in a Canadian city and you don't see the dark side of that. Everywhere you will see garbage. You will never see this in Europe, Australia, the United States, Japan, and Korea. This amount of waste is not even seen in Malaysian, Indonesian, or Thailand cities. It is impossible for you to use public transport and not see a lot of garbage at stations or on the route. You will be surprised to find a lot of garbage even in the woods - by the rivers and on the beaches in Canada. I wish the Canadians woke up and had no enmity with their country.

Both countries are similar interms of quality of cities and infrastructure. Funny i found people in toronto and montreal to be unfriendly like i do in sydney but other cities like calgary and edmonton to be more friendly like melboourne. To me Canadian's (specifically anglo) are generally more polite nicer and talkative with strangers which is what I liked the most aboot canada. To me its geography, climate and food where i see the most difference. If you like the ocean, beaches and all year nice climate Australia is way better. But if you like mountains, lakes and snow canada is the place to be. As for the quality of food and coffee, Australia is not just way better than Canada it has the best multicultural cuisine in the world. The main reason is Australia can easily grow Mediterranean produce in the south due to its Mediterranean climate in the south and asian produce in the north due to its tropical weather. The quality of dairy, meat, fish and produce in Australia is second to none because of the strict regulation that are in place plus thankfully are still not GM food like in north America. So almost everything here pretty much tastes like it should. Western, cafes, continental, Chinese, italian, Greek, middle Eastern, indian, Thai, Vietnamese, japanese etc food tastes as good if not better than the native country because of the high quality of produce and ingredients.

Both countries are uniquely fantastic with their truly high standars of living, advanced and developed economy and pretty prosperous lifestyle but anyway Australia has always been one of my toppest favourite destination to work and live because of its amazing weather, sunshine and more possibility of outdoor activities. The only negative side of Australia seems dangerous wildlife which really intimidates me ;) All in all, Australia is the best one.
