One year ago today I left Marquette after spending two amazing weeks there. I'm from Germany and I was visiting my boyfriend who lived there at the time. Now, one year later, we're living together in Germany, but I would love to go back and visit Marquette again. The U.P. has a special place in my heart.

So I'll tell ya some truth now. I spoke with this man for thirty minutes, whilst he was smoking chicken and spending time with his family. He is solid and a decent person. Thanks Travis for your time and dedication.

Yeah...sure. Jekyll and Hyde city. Summer is gorgeous, wonderful. Winters are absolutely brutal.

Winters are brutal for those that aren’t prepared for winter! That is one of the reasons I point out in another video!

@@LivingInMarquetteMichigan People do the same thing about NJ. January by far is the only month here where the winter is brutally cold, then it tapers off to cold the rest of the way. A guy I met from there admitted NJ in January is comparable to where he was from. I told him of course! How else do you think the Giants won in Green Bay to go to the Superbowl that year. Giants practiced in that horrible cold here in NJ/NY to get acclimated to the tundra! Up there though you get four to 6 months of brutal COLD!!! Then it tapers off to cold.. One month here of that kind of cold is enough for me.

I was born and raised in Marquette. I graduated from NMU with a welding certificate and an associate's degree in welding technology. I had to move since there aren't any welding jobs like production work, but I visit my family and friends on the weekends. There are the union halls and I signed up to start work for the Iron Workers of Local 8. My main goal get my journeyman card, get married, and live in Ishpeming or Negaunee. It's nice to have someone who knows the area of Marquette and to shed some more light on the town.

It’s always good to see more folks in the trades! Are they not looking for welders on the railroad or the mines?

when i lived in the U.P. i always said summer is july 4th if you are lucky. i actually have worn my winter coat to watch the fireworks. the summer and fall are ok. the winter totally sucks.

This all depends on the person! If you’re typically used to warmer weather you make like the cool summer nights and cooler spring and fall! Yeah I know we’ve had snow on days like today in May!

Please do tell. Really... I'm not being a jerk. What are the worst things about winter that you can recall? My wife and I are going up in August to scout for properties.

I live on the Space Coast of Florida. People moving to the area are killing what made the area wonderful. I hope that doesn't happen to you. We also lived in Woods Hole, MA. They were able to avoid the development (franchise free!😀) but it's still the take off point to Martha's Vineyard.
@LivingInMarquetteMichigan
@LivingInMarquetteMichigan Ай бұрын
I don’t think that’ll happen with the weather, slower development, the remoteness, access to medical, etc. It is a great place though!
