Nairobi is over 150 years old while Abuja - as you put it is slightly above 30 years old. Thus, Abuja should definitely be much better designed that Nairobi. Nairobi has a blend of old and new - while Abuja is brand new. The section of Nairobi that is congested is Down Town / Old Town which has been in existence for over a century. As you go North and Westwards, the congestion eases, there are also less beggers.

OTC used to be our CBD, We grew up and CBD moved to "Commercial area or Accra road" We have now grown and our CBD is slowly moving to Upper Hill area. ..Muthurwa is the designated area for hawkers and matatus but it is too far and not convenient for both traders and customers. I have lived in Nairobi most of my life and as a Kenyan I agree with you 100%, we need a neat capital, Abuja is cool and clean, Nairobi is doing good in Skyscrapers but on ground things are a bit dirty and that is what we Kenyans have been crying about. Currently, I live in a third city of Kenya called Kisumu, a small (Lakeside) city but clean, well paved pathways, well organized. businesswise its not doing well but resembles Abuja in some way. you can consider visiting if you are still in Kenya
