I live in Texas currently, have lived here all of my life. Went to Seattle in 2014 and was blown away by the beauty of WA! Just graduated college and looking hard for jobs with any of the local sports teams or parks & rec dept in Seattle or Tacoma. Washingtonians, I will hopefully see you soon.

Juventud Guerrero 2.0 Eh I think Tacoma is better in my opinion and to be honest that's just because I'm ready to get out of Texas. I know the lifestyle in Tacoma is much slower paced. Everyone is different, it just depends on what you're looking for. Yeah it's truly sad, I feel like San Antonio and Austin are just getting crazy big at a ridiculous rate.

DC R I agree, particularly North Tacoma. Now sure more expensive, but if you can swing it, worth it. The views in Washington are views that you simply can't get anywhere else. Can't wait to move to Tacoma January, 2019.

@mojo I'm born and raised in Tacoma. Gangs and shootings are common my father was a part of it many of his family was i chose to stay away from that stuff. Matter of fact a drive by happened in my alley way a few weeks ago. Homeless are everywhere some walk in you're yards or porches. The environment is poor and the schools are very low standard and shootings and bomb threats along with gang members are frequent in them. If you do plan on moving stay away from the east side. This is just my experience I'm sure others have their's. 👍

@@LoganSimpkins04 Dude I grew up there too. Lived on S. 12th near Orchard. It was a safer area kinda but you are right in the late 80's it was rough in Hilltop. We were homeless for a few weeks and had to stay at the shelter on S 6th. Crime was all around, my mom got her purse snatched and I was jumped many times walking to school. I am sure its a different place now a days. I know down on S. Tacoma Way by the B&I it has also gone down hill.

Tacoma is great if you have money and you stay on the rich West side. But if you cant afford it and you have to live on the East side its a pretty bad city. The *Tacoma Crime Rate Percentage* is 84% higher than the national average. So unless you live in one of the better neighborhoods it can be rough. I hate when I see videos like this where they show rich store owners and they sugarcoat everything. Definitely a beautiful city though.
@aldxbaran4 жыл бұрын
Yep. The east side is a rough, dirty ghetto pretty much
@bassman51236 жыл бұрын
The Tacoma and Lakewood areas are beautiful. However, the crime is just too much to bear! You have a 1 in 18 chance of being a crime victim in Lakewood-Tillicum (and Tacoma is about the same). In fact, it is so bad that the City of Lakewood actually banned the show Cops from filming there because they ended up in so many episodes that it was embarrassing to them (and probably very damaging to home values)
@TheGoowolf5 жыл бұрын
i must be extremely lucky then cause ive lived in this city all of my life and not once was a victim of a crime.

I think much of that data is obsolete. Since the opening of the University of Washington downtown and the Link Light Rail, there has been a lot of development downtown as well as an improvement in the quality of life. I have two teenagers and a 9 year old and we are downtown all the time, at all hours, and have never been the victim of a crime.

We moved here in 2016 from Brooklyn. It is much more diverse than the video would suggest. We have a wide variety of neighborhoods, economic levels, races and ethnicities. Yes, it is grey for about 8 months of the year, and by March one feels suicidal. But we also have 4 months with NO rain, long sunny days that are never above 80. There are some areas that are questionable and the downtown is only slowly developing, but my kids also play all around the neighborhood we live in and this is Hilltop (look that up).

According to FBI statistics, Tacoma is safer than 1% of cities in the United States! (Yes, you read that correctly) The crime is really that bad!
@TheGoowolf5 жыл бұрын
i have lived in Tacoma all of my life and not once have i been robbed or shot at. sure it is no Sesame Street but there are more deadly cities to live in. also, what you meant to say was "in Washington" not "in the United States"
