In this video I showcase my entire winter living on my boat in Miami. This season was a crazy one! I experienced a health problem that really changed my life but still had a ton of fun. At the end of this video, Frosty and I answer some questions that you guys have. As always, thanks for watching!
A BIG thanks to Smaco for sending me the S700 Dive Kit. This is such a useful setup and I am excited to have it! Easy to carry, easy to use, and easy to inflate. It can be taken on the plane when there is no air in the tank or the regulator is separated from the tank. Check out their website to get your own! www.smacodive....

I am in the marine business and have lived on a boat for 40 years now. However, I have never had the opportunity to travel like you. You can be sure I will watch all your future episodes. You are lucky to have a loyal friend to travel with that has your back. You must be the most relentlessly positive person I have ever seen. Hope your health improves.

Gus you’ve been making lemonade out of lemons your whole life. This health issue is another example. I love what you and Ethan are doing. Be more cautious about the various chemicals and fluids you work around. Be very conscientious about PPE and keeping that stuff out of your system. I have a 50’ in Seattle and have concluded it’s much easier and cheaper to cruise on a cruise ship to see the sights. lol. Thanks for inviting us along.

Hey Gus, I am not much of a video commenter, but I really appreciate you sharing your health situation. That is a personal thing, and it takes some courage to share like that. My wife suffers from a similar (but less serious) situation, so I feel for you. I don't click the like button on every video just to please the algorithms, but you have earned a "like" from me on this one. Thank you for sharing, and be well!

I'm in the same BOAT as you...PUN intended..I'm 58 can retire in 4yrs with SS and a pension...after taxes..I should have around $3500 /$3800 to work with...and if I do good on KZfaq extra income....lol
@whatta7793
@whatta7793 2 ай бұрын
@@JimKirk1776 try to save every penny you can right now outside of your SS/Pension. Savings accounts paying 5% interest, pretty significant. Just saving a few bucks on the side over the next 4 years can add to that $3500-3800 number significantly! Look into some stocks like JEPI and ARCC for even more cashflow. I think JEPI pays around 8% annual dividend, but pays out monthly, and it's price remains pretty stable. $10,000 in that alone would be $67 a month and you'd still have your $10,000 if an emergency happened and you needed a "lump sum". Adds up!

This was a LONG video and a lot to digest. First off I'm glad you're feeling well and back in action. Second Ethan is the best thing that's happened to "InTooDeep". You guys are the "Dynamic Duo" of the east coast boating world. Third is that freaking 45' Everglades CC. WOW!!! What a beast!!!! Lastly if you ever do one of those "Invite some 50+ year old guy to live the dream a little" put me on the list. Enjoy and be safe guys!!!

Best channel on YT these days. I am a life time boater, just turned 60, avid aluminum cruiser faniatic but also have spent 10 years with a pair of 466 Bertrams with Detroits, Life time on the water. I am getting old now, not as flexible to work on boats as I used to be for sure. Gonna continue living the boat dream through you. I have down sized to a 24' SeaPro with a 250 Suzuki and a freshwater 19' bass boat for now. Be fun to visit some time. I lived it and done it so happy to be following you and see your path develop.

Gusser - I, too, have had many health issues over the years, including kidney stones (3 times), gout, hip replacement, gall bladder removed, etc., etc. While not looking to minimize any of that, your health is paramount, but I think the real key to getting through it all (in addition to good doctors), is a positive mental outlook and a great sense of humor . . . looks like you're covered! Best to you and your crew(s) in the upcoming season. If you plan on motoring through the C&D Canal, let everyone know and I'll treat you to a few brewskis at the Chesapeake Inn's Tiki Bar! Smooth sailing, Doug

Gus, thank you for updating us on your new life. My youngest has Chrons and controls it by diet and he's doing fine. He 52' now but I must say that he went thru what you have been thru. Remember Gus life won't let us cheat and pay me now or pay me later but you will pay. That ring a bell or two. I'm like you when my feet touch the ground I get moving. I also know who's in charge and it's not you or me. I love your video's and look forward to more of them. On too the motor maintenance (Injector and waterpump). I certainly hope you are now on the preventative maintenance for yourself and well as for the boat. To the both of you guys here's to a wonderful trip back North to main. I'm totally impressed with the two of you for your willingness to get whatever done. Also Gus and Frosty out here in the CA Delta June 2nd at Vierra's Resort on the Sacramento River just North of Rio Vista, consider yourselves fortunate as Gas on the river is 6.99 a gallon. Calif. is killing us. I don't know what diesel is.

I really enjoyed the part about the injector and generator work. My only experience with a marine diesel was a Perkins 4-1089 in a Swan 44 sailing yacht. The engine was under a cover below the companionway to the deck. To access the engine, i had to raise the companionway and secure it to the underside of the deck, and then open a huge, mahogany engine cover. If there was a fuel problem, I had to manually prime the engine by laying on the floor of the head and open a small access door. Your engine rooms look like a dream to me

Awesome video. Gus, sad to hear you had to undergo such an awful experience with Crohn's and an infection. Happy you were able to find a competent surgeon and decent medical care. Major abdominal surgery is a brutal shock to your system. One question left unanswered -- what further repairs/upgrades are you planning for Bella? Are you happy with the condition of the galley, living spaces, heads and seeping cabins? Are the layouts and equipment in both helm stations up to your standards?

In my mind, a solution to the derelict boats anchoring, might be to charge the $750/month for landing access. Put stickers on the dinghys to prove you've paid. Sewage system inspections. But, a much more reasonable anchoring distance from shore. Many of us might want to stay there for several months. Others might only be able to afford to live on anchored boats, and work ashore. Providing benefits to the local economy. Just a possible solution.

Gus, I live in Virginia Beach, you have probably gone through Norfolk on your way north BUT, if you ever need help coming through here I will be glad to help. I am retired so any help you may need is doable for me. So sorry to hear about your medical issues and we are hoping those are behind you. 👍

Love yer videos brotha! I know nothing about boats but after watching your videos I have learned a lot about boat life and boat mechanics, and actually feel inspired to face my fears and get into the waterworld haha. Thanks mang appreciate the positivity! 🙂😎

I understand. I have Chrons and had a Colostomy. They took all my Colon short of 10 inches. It’s brutal but hey, we can persevere. I’m 66 now. I have good days and bad days. But you’re young. It will get better. Good luck. Luv your work and videos. Was a Certified Chevy tech and Aircraft Mechanic
