So you've built an off road race car for King of the Hammers. Now what? There's so much that goes into preparation ahead of time, but it doesn't stop once you're on the dry lakebed! There's so much to do, but it's not always all work!
Hope you all enjoy the video!

I used to work at a well know offroad race shop and we had several complaints about rugged radios, so we stopped stocking them and went to PCI radio equipment and for many years had nothing but awesome mentions from customers . so you might wanna look into PCI and it also works with rugged products

Rugged Radios sells cheap Chinese junk. they also used to tell there buyers you did not a license to operate their radios.

@@richmyer9111 yeah total dirt bag of a company. A 30 dollar UV5R for 80 dollars. What a joke.

Of course it'll work. It's just radios programed with commercial and public radio frequencies, doesn't matter what name is stamped on it. Rugged Radios is a total rip off. They didn't really start letting customers know that they needed licenses for the various stuff they had programed into the radios until the FCC finally took enforcement action against them. The "Weatherman" frequency for instance is used by over 400 entities in California alone, some of those are public safety users. People would buy these overpriced rebadged Chinese radios and not know they were violating a bunch of regulations and possibly interfering with legit communications and the company didn't give a fuck. They preyed on their customers ignorance of radios in general. Another thing that blows my mind is the off road community's willingness to learn everything from engines to recovery equipment, but when it comes to radios people have no interest in learning anything about them (google is at your finger tips) get taken advantage of by a company like Rugged.

@@jeepinbanditrider We ran Motorola radios for years and years... never a failure. PCI was great for getting helmets wired, and they were the official comms service for SCORE forever, so they were the go-to for assistance, and a great bunch of people. They were also great help with GPS systems when they were new on the market (that made me sound old). You're right... nobody wants to learn the radio gear or the GPS systems.

I like seeing Chris, Kevin, and Brittany mess with one another, as it's not only entertaining watching them have fun with it, but it gets them all into a competitive spirit. Which is what you need to drive you to endure the stress and anxiousness that you feel constantly on the way to the finish line. Every little bit helps, and I spose people who live their live by that are the kind of people who like racing and improving.

Wake up Lone Star Swirl, as much as I agree with your post, I got to get this off my chest . . . to you and all the "King of the hammer" fanatics with your 4x4 rigs, isn't it about time to start pushing back on your government to make sure that "king of the Hammers" will still be there in 2030? Every community is fighting back but what strikes me is the idle and seemingly careless attitude of the 4x4 community. Over here in Europe EVERYONE pushes back, but the 4x4 community in the US and Australia for that matter seems to be more afraid of losing their channels then losing their freedom. Where do you see your precious builds and 4x4's in 8 years? You still think you own them? The rest of the world is fighting your fight, let that marinate for a while, people are fighting YOUR fight, and why is this your fight you might ask? Because 4x4's and Jeeps in general stands for unlimited FREEDOM, choosing your own path and go where the wind takes you, THAT'S WHY it's YOUR fight too! And if that isn't enough reason, you may consider this, "you will *wn n*thing and be h*ppy about it". Let that sink in my friends. Something tells me that you won't respond to this, but I hope you will use your KING of the HAMMERS trip to talk about this. You are all together now. Help saving the future of our children and by doing so, save the future of 4x4

I was out there Friday thru Thursday and I wish I could have helped your team. 2021 I followed your King of the Hammers experience. That lead me to the Dry lake bed this year. I had the greatest motorsports experience of my life. Kevin is a amazing driver and we want your team back in 2023. I want to help. Next year setup a King of the Hammers support crew, months before the event. Maybe that would easy the stress.
