UCLA Junior here, Biochem major! It's very hard indeed to get here straight out of HS, but there's a trick. Transfer from a community college and pull at least a 3.7, and you're about guaranteed!

Highly recommend living on campus your freshman year. Best way to make friends and also frees you up from the time needed to make your own meals. That way, you'll have more time to socialize, exercise, work....and oh yeah, study and learn!

I've never really considered going to UCLA for college, but since I've been looking through college websites and students opinions of KZfaq, ucla seems the best and it seems like everyone at UCLA is just one big family! It's my new goal to apply and get accepted into this awesome school!

It is very expensive for out of state students, but remember, once you establish residency you will have in state fees. The hardest part will be getting in as UCLA, like all other state schools, is required to give CA residents priority.

Hope I get to go here for my study abroad from UCL. Guess I have the incentive to work hard this year now.

I've been going to UCLA for a while and it took me a while to even find out that Courtside even existed.

Got accepted to UCLA in March, and I plan to attend next year. I come from a single parent home that brings in a whopping $10,000 dollars per year. I worked my ass off to get accepted (4.65 gpa). Btw, there are increased tuition fees for out of state students.

If only education is for free. 😭

you should be fine. is your 3.9 weighted? it depends on what school you're applying to though. I think my AP scores in the sciences helped me a lot. My EC too, I had a position in the student club. I got into the engineering.

Im gonna be a senior this year, I was originally born and raised in Southern California but moved up to the state of Oregon my freshman year. I plan on attending UCLA and majoring in Art or Art History but since im out of state, its gonna be more expensive :/ I wish they can give me a discount for living in Cali most my whole life.

I graduated in 1995. I lived on campus all four years. When I moved into Canyon Point, it was brand new. I spent two years in A1-301 with two fantastic roommates.

4.65?!?!?! How?! Why?! Is it that competitive now between high school seniors now?!? Back in 2007 anything above 4.2 was pretty unheard of... But a 4.65? Amazing sir/ma'am, I hope you get to enjoy yourself at least every now and again though!
