I love the furniture flip and your new living room set! I agree with Alex, I wouldn't have done a TV any smaller than that on that wall I think either a much larger rug or moving your furniture in would stage the room better to help it not look broken up. Ideally, from a stylist standpoint, you want either all the front legs of your furniture on the rug, or all four legs of each piece.

New pictures (in another year!): You & Alex, 2 older kids together, middle child, 2 younger kids together. Gives that middle child special status!

Dec. 31st 1979 What a wonderful year for my family. You always bring me back to such wonderful memories. I was always redoing furniture and cabinets. I had a condole TV that kept moving with me. It just wouldn't die I had to for 30 years before I finally just said it's time for it to go. I then bought a nice thin one that was modern. I donated it so I don't know how long it lasted, but what an amazing TV it was. I would start a project and then my son would pitch in and work with me. Many, many wonderful memories. Thanks Kim for bringing me so much! You're an amazing mom and wife. God Bless you and your family. ❤❤

Great job Kim! The painted table looks amazing! The whole space looks so much lighter and brighter and newer. I agree with you, I think adding floating shelves would make it look to cluttered. A trick I do with my dark leather couch is I add a couple of beige comfy pillows to it and it really brightens my space. Have a great day!

When I saw this video was up, I wouldn’t let myself watch it until I tidied the kitchen. I also got some water, because it purifies the soul. Awesome job you should be super proud.

There are many things that could be done to update your old entertainment center, into a couple projects. Keeping the two sides as curio-cabinets, placed on the two ends of a wall, so the arch goes towards the side wall, will make it looks like a built-in. It would need painting, and possibly have the wood taken out from behind the glass, but would make a couple of great display cabinets for someone. The stand you had your TV on, could be painted, with the top sanded down to the wood and stained, would make a nice entry table or end table. I've seen people do amazing things with outdated, large, bulky pieces. The trick is to not think of it as a whole, but as two or three separate projects. For your first refinishing job, you did very well. As you watch more furniture redo videos, you'll learn more tricks to end up with an amazing piece in the end.

Hi Kim, I think you did an amazing job for the first time refinishing a piece of funiture. It looks so much better. I love the new piece under the tv as well. I really think you should refinish the piece under the kids' pictures to match the chest and table to have one cohesive look in the room. I agree the olive tree needs to be a little higher up so trying to elevate it in that pot would be good. Loved that Meredith was able to help with this project. Props to you for letting her help in her own way. You are such a great mom. You really enjoy your children and it shows.

Yes on the floating shelves. Maybe atleast on one side. LOVE the cozy beach/lake cottage driftwood esthetic you have happening. Everything just opened up, with tones of warmth and inviting. Our TV broke and my husband ordered it online from Costco since they didn’t have it in store. When they delivered it, the box was MASSIVE since he bought a 82” one. But after putting it up, I think it fits our space better than the previous one. Love the look of the console and you did a great job on the tables. Completely transformed the look of your room and floating shelves would ruin the airy vibe of a lake house.

My first piece I was breastfeeding my son off and on and getting things done during nap times haha it was our dining room table and I ended up needing my husband to help finish painting because this included all the chairs and reupolstering the cushions and I didnt realize it'd take so long. There're imperfections here and there but we always get complements and I love it because it's a forever memory and everytime I see an imperfection it makes me smile. Yes a fellow candle hog! I also enjoy hoarding candles. I dont burn them as often as Id like. I also cant pass up a sale or a really good scent despite my abundance. Its the little things that bring us happiness and we should not deny ourselves!

I’m rewatching this vlog today. I’m laughing when Alex was talking to you about a larger TV. We couldn’t hear the conversation because that’s when you were doing the voice over. But just seeing your expressions were so funny! We recently moved into a new build house. I really pushed for two extra rooms, one for our 17 yo daughter. It’s going to be the last room that she’ll live in under our roof and it’ll be useful after she moves out. The second room was a media room. Not a “theater” meaning ginormous, but a really good size. Well, my hubby then got the larger TV itch like Alex got and he returned from Costco with an 85 inch TV. OMGoodness! I was laughing because I was the one that pushed for the media room. But then he fell in love with it and then decided we needed a ginormous TV! Men bust me up! You’re living room looks amazing!!! Also, while watching this vlog again, I was wondering what about refinishing your bed? I’ve heard you talking about your Coastal Vibe feel for your bedroom. Maybe that would lighten it up? That's wonderful! A new fresh look and if you want to balance the TV area temporarily - move the small Ficus plant a little further away from the console and move the Olive tree a bit closer to the console. This will frame the area and the framed picture on the wall will look part of the plan.

I went thru the same thing recently. Had the big oak entertainment center that took up a whole wall. Had it for 20 years I was extremely tired of it. It was a dust collector on top, full of nicknacks, photo albums, cds, papers. So my husband listed it on face book market place for 300.00. Now if you look the the market place is flooded with those. But the universe wanted me to get new furniture and some nice couple bought it from St. Augustine she repurposed it for her laundry room because custom cabinetry would of cost 6000.00. She painted it white and sent us a picture it looked beautiful. I will admit I had mixed emotions getting rid of it but after that picture it made me feel good it found a good home. So I went the rooms to go route and bought a new entertainment center that's just the bottom like yours. We also got the 65 inch tv and switched from cable to streaming to save 70.00 a month. I also bought a new sofa and recliner, side table and it looks more up to date.

Swear to God that knick knacks reproduce on their own. I have so many items from my Mom (who passed 20+ years ago) that are very special to me that I will never get rid of. But I still have to find a place for them. I really chuckled when I saw the time stamp and thought you did it on purpose as a joke to show how long it took. It WAS funny. I agree with Alex. The wall is so big that you would be dissatisfied with a small television. 65" minimum. The living room looks so nice. And you did a great job on your first piece.

You did great with the coffee table! My only suggestion would be to push the couch across from the tv closet to the rug that way your rug doesn’t look like it’s floating in the middle of the room.
