@@rama6061 No, I do not have any side effects from the surgery. That's because of where my seizures were starting; they were able to remove it without causing any issues. The only side effects that ive had are from the seizures, I have some long term memory loss. That's it though

I was around 3 years old when I had my first seizure, but no one in my family noticed it at that time. Then, when I was in 8th grade, I had a seizure in school. Since then, it happens once or twice a year. It always occurs in the morning and I have a headache throughout the day afterwards

What I have learned As a Epilepsy Patient • It’s hard to bear, but we cannot lose hope to get healthy one day. • We can reduce ratio of attacks, if we follow doctor’s advices in our daily routine. • We have to spread awareness about epilepsy, and show the world that nothing is impossible in life. • There are many people who are suffering from epilepsy, but they are living their lives very happily. • It’s a continuous struggle to keep Yourself focus on your goals rather then worry about your disease.

I hear a lot of videos like yours about seizure disorders, but as you know, seizures are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to epilepsy. I have had epilepsy my whole life, and it's the anxiety, sleep disorders, memory loss. ... I have found a good side though. Creativity. I found that I can make anything. You might want to look into that. A friend and I were talking, he is the same way. Yes, he has epilepsy too.

In my experience (50+ years w/ epilepsy), the stuff about memory loss due to seizures is often nonsense. I speak, read & write 3 languages fluently, and another 2 proficiently. A friend (also w/ epilepsy) writes books - including textbooks. Save during and just after seizures, I've not suffered memory loss due to epilepsy.

Personally I find EEG absolute torture! It means 3-4 weeks of Hell!! I don’t tend to have seizures during the EEG but side effects show up within 12 hrs. About 2weeks of seizure after seizure, then 10 day of adrenaline levels so high that sleeping is almost impossible. Do any other epileptics suffer like this after an EEG or is it just me. Those flashing lights and electrical pulse are just about to bring on a seizure when they release pressure. However the seizure doesn’t just go away, it just delayed for a few hours.

Looks like I was punched in the eye. I guess that in 2 weeks everything will be healed. Exactly. I had TBI in 1993. That must be why I developed epilepsy 21 years later.

You can't make anyone help you. You can apply to SSDI and SSI. You can also get evidence that there was no epilepsy in her medical record prior to this; make an appointment with a neurologist; then record some seizures; describe in detail her seizures without emotions involved. I would also suggest getting a pro-bono lawyer if applying to SSDI and SSI. If you intend to pursue a case against the workplace, your main job is to build a case showing why she did not have epilepsy, and how she does now. Include pictures, videos, letters from friends, neighbors, strangers, trusted people in the community who have seen her have seizures. Describe the worst days for both this case and her SSDI/SSI case. This is not the time to be modest.

I have complex focal seizures. They are controlled by the medication which I have been taking for about 40 years now. They have not been eliminated, but they are much less frequent and less severe, than when I was first diagnosed 43 years ago.

The electrical storms (clusters of neurons in the brain firing irregularly) which cause the seizures also wipe out much of the memory of the seizures themselves. HOWEVER, the stuff about people with epilepsy suffering from general memory loss due to this neurological condition is nonsense. I've had seizures for 50+ years. I speak, read & write 3 languages fluently and another 2 proficiently. A friend (also w/ epilepsy) writes textbooks. Save during and just after the seizures, I have no memory loss from epilepsy.

Is Epilephsy disease is transmitted ?means can it be transmitted to thier children?

If you mean to ask is epilepsy hereditary, the answer is sometimes yes. But most of the time, it is not hereditary. I've had seizures for over 50 years. No one else in my family (in 3 continents) has epilepsy. Neither my daughter nor son has it.

@@susandihle9752 My moms uncle had it when he was 17 and passed away at that age. They all lived in the Philippines. Now I’ve had it since I was 17, how do explain that? @susandihle9752

@@janeanbraverman9879 Some kinds of epilepsy are, unfortunately, more hereditary than others. As you already know, some kinds are also more easily treatable in that different kinds of seizures respond more easily to medication. I have read that this is also true of surgical treatments (including implants in the brain), but I've no direct experience of any kind of surgical treatment. Have you looked into both options - medication & surgical treatments? In my experience, most surgeons are reluctant to perform surgery on people with seizures that can be more or less controlled by medication. Since your seizures cannot be easily controlled by medication, you may want to explore surgical options in order to at least decrease (ideally, eliminate) your seizures. Speaking statistically, there is very little evidence that epilepsy, as a whole - including all forms of this neurological condition - is hereditary.

Do you get angry when you get one
@susandihle9752
@susandihle9752 2 жыл бұрын
If you experience anger when you have a seizure, you may have what used to be called psychomotor seizures. They were called this (in the 1970s when I was first diagnosed w/ epilepsy) because they can include emotional characteristics (fear, anger, irritation, confusion) and motor symptoms (repetitive chewing motions, regular twitching, or body movements). For my part, I found over the years that the more I grew to accept the fact that I have this neurological condition and will continue to experience some seizures, the less anger and irritation I feel. I am not happy that I have them, but there is no point in anger about this condition. I can control some factors via healthy lifestyle w/ balanced diet & activity levels, reducing stressors, getting enough sleep & taking my meds regularly. Other than this, I cannot do much. So why become angry?

@@daisywilliams7750 they wanted to take more tests they thought it was panic attacks. Then after I had a seizure breaking 6 ribs and puncturing my lungs they prescribed Keppra. My seizures were awful. It’s was like convulsions! I’d have 4-5 a day. It started after serious head injury by 2 months. Then they kept on increasing my dose everytime I would have a seizure till the seizures stopped. That’s how they got the correct dose. I’m one of the stubborn types where I convinced myself it’s not epilepsy so I decided to lower my dose ended up with a seizure so now I just take my meds correctly and so far no seizures.

Unfortunately, there is a fair amount of rubbish in this show. Particularly given the exorbitant costs of medical procedures (including EEGs) in this country, the advice to get EEGs is not helpful. I've had epilepsy for more than 50 years, and I've had 1 EEG. I have no intention of having another while still living in the States. If I returrn to the UK or if my seizures alter, then I might consider having another EEG. Otherwise, undergoing yet more expensive diagnostic procedures would be far more helpful to the financial "health" of the doctors, nurses, and hospitals than to me!

I'm sorry you've had a bad experience, and I'm glad your meds are working. However, some people who have onset later are not used to having seizures and their doctors need to see their brainwaves using EEGs or they have seizures often and they do not have a treatment plan that is working, despite attempts. EEGs are used by doctors as tests to determine what, if any, kind of epilepsy there is, or if another treatment course should be attempted.
