If you have not watched Part 1 of this series, I will leave that link below, and I highly recommend watching that as well. This series is important to me, so that I can spread awareness about those who have to live with epilepsy. It's a condition that is not curable, and unfortunately for some can be fatal, and my last seizure almost was, which I will go more in depth about in Part 3 (which will go live next week). #epilepsy #epilepsyawareness

I once had a coworker with epilepsy and she was always worried about having seizures at work. Thanks for making this series, I feel like I'm learning a lot and have some research to do on my own. I dig your channel, can't wait for the next part!

You poor girl, I’m so sorry that you and your family have to live with this. I can’t even begin to imagine what that must be like. You’re an incredibly strong woman and a true inspiration Monica. Thank you again for sharing this story. I know that it is helping so many people out there who either struggle with or are at the beginning of their journey with not only epilepsy but with chronic illness in general. Much love to you and your family. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

When I was 15 I was diagnosed with epilepsy because I was getting dizzy, passing out and having mild convulsions.. I’m about to be 35 and a year ago I pretty much figured it out for myself that it’s vertigo.. I know how awful it feels to go through what I do so I can’t imagine how you must feel.. I’m so sorry you’re going through this.. I totally understand how you feel in a way.. You are very strong and I have a feeling one of the reasons why you have this is to share your story and help others going through it also.. you’re amazing! Keep doing what you’re doing! I love your videos! 💕

Thank you for watching! I actually had vertigo when I came back from Atlanta. I cannot imagine feeling that way every single day. That was honestly one of the worst things I've experienced.

I relate my seizures to all you have said however I go through all kinds of seizures ie going blank and not knowing what’s happening around me and grand mall seizures where I go stiff and jerking which leads to serious injuries but I have been so blessed to be in a place where I have always been rescued. I have had seizure in the middle of the traffic road where among other injuries i broke my front teeth. In my own circumstance, I’ve always opened up to the people I just meet about my conditions and if anything happens, they should help me by taking the actions that I have told them . When i have a seizure, it takes me between 1 to 5 days before I can get to my normal self. I recently had 2 grand mall seizures in a day but only realised that I was on hospital admission after the second day with drips and all gadgets in me and yet I wasn’t really in charge. I am on a lot of epilepsy seizures control medication and has gone through medical operations to insert VNS ( VAGUS NERVE STIMULATOR) in my chest to assist the control of my seizures which has helped but when I get hit with a fit, after a long time, I always feel like I’ve been in a wrestling match. The effects of seizures in my life is unthinkable. It makes me get unnecessary angry, not being friendly, sober, withdrawn and depressed which affects my relationships and work. Some people are so blessed that they become seizure free but I’ve been living with it for more than 20yrs. The greatest medication is you and don’t be ashamed of your condition. It’s unfortunate that you question yourself that why are you the person in this situation. Don’t see yourself as being disadvantaged and try not to put yourself in arms way because it isn’t worth it. Think about your friends and families and be proud of yourself. STAY SAFE. Regards and Lol

OK, here it goes. Good Friday 2005, my wife and I were suppose to drive down to Florida w/ her parents and her sister kids. We'd take our truck, they'ed drive their mini-van. Besides the normal getting ready BS, I had a bad cold, so didn't get much sleep that night. Also my 82 year old Dad went into the hospital for pneumonia. To top it off, I was walking around in that is best called a "Fog". I don't how else to put it. So, went see my Dad, (make the joke about his pneumonia shot working), get to the in-laws and get going. Drove from Detroit to the first rest stop south of Toledo. This is where the story begins. From what I remember, I went to the bathroom, helped my six year old nephew wash his hands, then "woke up" in the back of an ambulance, w/a nice looking brunette asking do I know where I am? Being a smart ass, I said, " I'm in the back of an ambulance, but I was at the first rest stop on I-75 south of Toledo". From what Debbie told me, I went to the truck, she was getting food from her parents cooler, and I rocking back and forth in the seat. My Father in law "ran" to a pay phone to call for help. (May he rest in peace, but I wish I could have seen that!!!) I didn't want to go in the ambulance, but Debbie talked me into it. I was taken to a hospital in Bowling Green Ohio. Had a CT scan, blood work, then waited. I was still in a fog. Other than Debbie and I talking, walking to the bathroom took a lot of effort, my legs were tight? Then I had another one. We were talking, then I couldn't speak. Next thing I remember, I woke up in a hospital bed, hooked up to an IV, my shoulder hurt like someone took a baseball bat to it and thinking "OH SHIT" WTF is going on!!!!! The fog was gone now. Now back to what my dark blond angel has told me, (for the record she's dyed her hair red, yes I have went on a date w/a redhead). I had another seizure in the ER, dislocated my shoulder in the bed. However I couldn't tell the jackasses what happened, they just thought I was agitated, so pumped me full of ativan. There wasn't room in that hospital, I was taken to a hospital in Toledo. There, oh he dislocated his shoulder, so started to work on that, while a student nurse tried to shove an IV needle in my arm. In my drug/brain induced stuper, I screamed out, "BOTH ARMS"!!!!!!!! Debbie said that stopped everyone. I popped my shoulder back by myself, thank you very much. Saturday, I don't remember much, pain meds for my shoulder, but had an MRI. Sunday refused whatever they were giving me for my sho, arm. Hurt like hell, but the first day I could put things together in my brain. Monday had the EEG, everything normal of course, and went home. Cliff notes here, other than '10, no seizures, no meds, except for back pain, think 1st generation Lyrica which can be used for seizures. (Well normal "old folks" meds, BP Statins ect.) When I do ever feel "Foggy", maybe once/twice a year, I'll lay down. Also thank God that I wasn't driving when it hit. A lot more to add, maybe another time. Just want to add, Debbie was a rock during all this, can't imagine what she was going thru. 24 years ago we did say in sickness and in health, just would like more in health!!!

I'm so happy to hear that you are ok and that you weren't driving because that could've ended very badly. So I'm assuming they didn't diagnose you as epileptic but they did say you suffered from multiple seizures? It's always scary though, especially in the beginning when you have no idea what's going on you wake up somewhere that you weren't just two seconds ago (or so you think when waking up from a seizure). Much love to you and your family. Debbie must've been so incredibly scared for you too. You have a good one by your side ❤️❤️❤️

Was it a grand Mal seizure? I don't get those types of seizures, but those are really scary to watch.

Thank you, it is very interesting though sad. I'll go to your blog to learn how to react in front of someone's seizure. What made me very sad is that you feel so bad after a seizure. I was completely ignorant about it, I thought when it was over you could continue normal day activities and plans. It is so unfair.

For some people I do believe they can go about their day. However for me it takes about 24 hours for me to be able to go about life normally.

its the not knowing and thinking everyday is today going to be a bad day. I think it should be made more aware. I joined a group to talk about it with other people who have it . I think why me . my parents are the same my mum still cries once I'm settled even now. I felt guilty. my mum said she wishes she could take it away. I was not allowed to lock doors. I have smashed my head nearly died. I think is the next one going to beat me and take me.
