We know it can be prevented and treated, yet thousands of our women continue to be cast away from their communities to suffer alone for trying to give life. Something that is not their fault. The subject of Obstetric Fistula is a sad, shameful and isolated life of over two million women around the world who today live with fistula.

Catherine Hamlin opened the first Fistula hospital. Thank God. These poor women go through so much

I cannot imagine a society that so readily turns it’s backs on its own people. Breaks your heart hearing these stories. All the hurt and pain. Hopefully education will solve this and many other issues that need sorting, but done with love, compassion and TONS of empathy things can improve. The medical staff who spoke on the video are doing a FANTASTIC job...fantastic. xx

Living conditions like in the stone age. The women got no sanitary towles nor incontinence pads. I wonder where the billions are gone that this continent got from the whole world, since decades. Nothing has changed ...

No it stays forever. How sad huh? But they can do alot to live better lives with the condition and keep it under control. Pray for our only Africa. God Bless All.

@@jwilcox4726 oh...no, i didn't know that. That's awful. I thought I heard someone say they had surgery to repair the fistula condition? Wow, that would be a pretty rough situation to have to get used to, for life. *I pray those afflicted find the strength needed to endure, overcome, and be shielded from the mental effects of what they must suffer. Amen.* I pray that some genius, is enlightened to discover a way to heal these women, and make their bodies and minds, whole once again. Amen. May the peace of the Lord, that which transcends all understanding, be upon their hearts and minds, Amen. 😔🙏

More American and western world money required to give these people the proper hospitals and proper treatment. Are we in the 21st century or the 20th century??? No excuses, we all live on this one planet with enough resources to help everyone live a safe modern lifestyle.

How do we map a plan and enforce that? All the wasted money on wars alone would just about balance things out. We all count and are all connected. Alot of us are responsible for this being the way it is in Africa. Just the gold we stole alone would have paid for all the stuff we whites stole from them and left them our roads we built to get the gold out we we stealing. Ignorance isn't bliss. Let's help our fellow humans and have a happy planet the way is was meant to be.

I'm in the United States and women and men suffer from this condition here as well. It goes along with Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis. I have had several. They are very painful and slow healing. And it's horrible. And it's hard for Dr. To treat certain kinds of these.

That's true, it's existing all over the world. The worst conditions that i saw were patients, with rectovaginal fistula. Urine and feces are often coming out of one orifice. The smell is incredible and it's a terrible situation for the patients

I’m just curious if FGM is practiced in any of these tribes. Some girls can’t even urinate or have a normal menstruation after FGM because the hole is so small when these girls are sewn it makes giving birth impossible.

Sure it is. You hear what that doctor said. Their are two options the head is to big for a normal opening or the opening is to small for a normal head. Now let's think about why the opening could be to small. In most cases due to scars. Scarred skin can't stretch like normal one. I wonder why they don't clarify where the problem is coming from and why we don't have it in this demension in countries without fgm. I guess they don't want to know that they slowly kill their women with their tradition and that they are the ones who cause that conditions for their wife's

A very underated viewing number. The west fight for women's rights in its homeland but what about the forgotten women in the 3rd world. I'd say they have forgotten voices but many have no voice to be forgotten.
