Speaking from an intimate perspective about personal grief, and then from a universal view which touches upon the losses we all face in life, Mingyur Rinpoche shares advice on how to negotiate new and uncertain landscapes, and how to accept and evolve in a world of impermanence.

I just lost the person I loved the most in my life , my father a month and half ago. Dealing with such a grief was hard . I just let myself cry whenever I feel immense grief . Thank you for your kind words of encouragement and wisdom Rinpoche . Before my father's death for one and half month I have been meditating according to your instructions and I handled my father's death pretty well. I was proud of the way I didnt have a mental break down . I have got a taste of death and impermanence and feel grateful for these lessons . I want to live a meaningful life and praticse the dharma as much as possible with hopes of seeing and meeting my father again when I pass away too 💕

Its because it was « your » father that affects you that much. Way way way more far in the path, you will know the story of Buddha teaching on Death : 🌟 A woman lost her child, very deeply affected she cries without stop for many days and night. Buddha come to her, and they go together accross all the village. They go from house to house. Buddha asks to everyone : have you lose someone ? Was it painful ? « [with sad face and low voice] Yes i did, it was very painful » « Yes yes » « Yes yes » After that they go near the river, and Buddha struggled and cried because he was touched by people losses as they are part of universe and life not only people close to his dwelling. But at the same time woman find peace and calm understanding the teaching, and thank Buddha.. And life goes on in a lighter way ..

@noor noor From the moment you dont meditate within your heart the deep and profound and personnal question of the reduction of suffering in everything and everybeing .. and because you have experienced true suffering and have been sensible by it, >> you will stay as you were So you can stop meditation, YES ! Then go in ordinary world, get suffering ! And come back maybe, later in this very one and or the next one [life]

im a young person with a very distructive mind. my mother has always tried to teach me to meditate but i never understood it. lately, my life has been really difficult with struggling to find full time work, loosing friends and becoming distant, and quite recently the person i loved the most decided to move on in her life. these past couple nights i feel like there wasnt a single second of peace and clarity from the sadness i felt.. until i discovered this channel. after watching one video and following all of the steps, i felt a sense of hope and now i truely believe i can be open to this practice and control my mind. thank you Rinpochepath in

Attachment is the cause of suffering. I have faith that god is going to help us no matter what happens. If I step back and look at how good my life is, even with the negative things that have happened. I can't help but believe in god. Love never dies

My cat died today....almost 19 years old. I miss him already! I cried alot today, even more intense then with my parents. My cat was my companion for almost 20y...i see him still setting on the window sill or asking a peace of my food. It is stil and empty now. Knowing he is never coming back....😢 although i thought i was prepared, i am greaving and feel more lonelier then ever. He was part of my life in everything. It is so sad😢😢

I’m sorry for your loss. Your beloved cat led a good life with you. You gave your cat food, shelter, and love. That’s more than what most animals can hope for during their short lives. From the moment a being is born, death is inevitable. What most of us hope for is a good quality of life (in between birth and death). You gave your cat a great life…for a cat. So please rejoice in your good deed. The pain of loss will slowly subside. In its place will be beautiful memories and a big heart that can love other sentient beings (and give them joy through your love) 💕

Pain also passes like the good in life, it changes, and sometimes we catch a phase in life when all the good is gone at once, and then we lose hope. But losing hope is also a impermanence. that is the great message.

I love how you make the comparison of your father's teaching being your father continually being with you in life even after his passing, my father also passed, he was a very complicated man who never got away from his own suffering, but he was also an extremely inspiring and intelligent man in other ways, through his teachings he still lives through me as well. Thank you for sharing☸❤❤

THE LESSON Loss is a deeply ingrained belief. How can we minimize its impact? Try engaging your rationality and asking questions. What can I learn from it? How can I grow from it? How can I transform it into something meaningful? Try to ask questions that lead to constructive thoughts rather than intensify grief. Example: I lost my job in May because the project I was working on was closed. I had prepared myself for this situation and looked for opportunities within it. This is how I found the freedom to take a sabbatical year, start building my character, meet new people, volunteer, and travel.

I just lost my job and have no money now, I very hard to find this kind of job to accept me already as I have been 33 and not too much experience as senior yet. I am too hard to go to senior as all people are selfish nowadays and didn't give you chance including customer as I am in hair industry, but I just feel it's hard to let go the industry I once loved to work but have changed a lot because of internet and MCO.

I love how his grandmother was like "it's okay little guy, you'll die too some day small child, your experience will end just like your sand castle crumbled into dust, so too will your mark on the world fade like a long forgotten scar" kinda paraphrasing, she seems like she was a vibe though

I have become home less, because of renovations required to my old rental, my car needs fixing, and I'm in debt. I had a breakdown yesterday. I'm exhausted, I'm going to walk away from work, to examine the next part of my life. I had a full time job, ECT. 😧. I'm living in a friend's house, working on my next move. 🙏

Unusual day. Set clock for 7am. At 6:45am a single finger symbol chimed. I thought I was going to hear chant while dozing. Sometimes I hear Hebrew psalms when sleeping or really stressed. When super sick Hebrew Ana beckoah. No chant. Five minutes later single chime again. Finally realized call to chant. Today was shopping day Went to bank check early. Went to Walmart everything I wanted on big sale. Went to food for less everything I needed on sale. Produce couldn't beat the prices. Went to Safeway I have to buy from managers special 30 per cent off. Got 2 ribs pork steak 4 lamb chops bagels for $23.00. Came home looked at internet recipes hot and sour wanton soup and egg foo yung. Easy to make. Had to have egg rolls for lunch. Time is stressed. The gangs aggregate each other. Spend a lot of time listening to dichotomy of control. Trying to work in the exercise. Frequently exhausted from noise of gangs aggravating each other. I live in the middle. I m neutral. They are drunk and high they don't care. In spite of what is happening things are 80 per cent better. People are working on improving it but it took 7 yrs for this to happen. It wont get better over night.
