I have had R.A. for the past several years now and I can relate....sometimes the journey seems scary....we have to acquire a certain mindset.. I'm trying everyday not to allow this cruel illness to master me. Sometimes I must confess I just feel like giving up especially when I'm experiencing a flare and medication is providing little or no help...when it passes I try to bounce back ( you know what I mean... slowly limp back ) to normal life. During this time family is key or at least someone special who understands.....I think we should all get together and form a 'Brave Hearts Association ' don't you think ?!

I was diagnosed 3 weeks ago after a hard and fast onset in mid August. I’ve also had fibromyalgia for over 25 years so am use to chronic pain and fatigue. However, the RA hits harder than the fibro. Thankfully I’ve found a wonderful Rheumatologist who is proactive and very compassionate. I’ve always been a positive person by nature and I’m trying not to lose that outlook. But I totally relate to what she said about the middle of the night pain, not being able to sleep and feeling so alone in all of it. Hopefully with my doctor’s treatment plan we will get this under control and those nights will be fewer and far between. Hang in there warriors. 🥰

Hi, I am currently taking naproxen to help with pain and discomfort, was recently diagnosed as being in some kind of remission, left hand and wrist pains are easing. I began to develop trigger finger in the right hand but that has now corrected itself,i do take various other pain killers and at this moment the condition is thankfully not as bad as it could be. Methotrexate and folic acid did help but the side effects were unbearable and I stopped taking it. Then went on to Leflunomide, this treatment also did work but became unbearable due to the side effects, I am in touch with my Reumatology nurse and am in regular consultation with Reumatologist, I am dreading the next flare up, it's the kind of pain that is unbelievable ! but for now we have to wait and see. The main reason for stopping these meds was frightening bouts of breathlessness, there are very many side effects of taking these medecines.
