best advice is take everything in moderation Im on it for life after 2 x seperate PEs here in the UK i purchased my own blood test machine and the doctors provide test strips lancets and pens free of charge, I telephone my local blood clinic every 12 x weeks because im very stable for the last eight years. The only reason of why i purchased my own was the cattle market and time at the clinics, my normal self testing is once every two weeks but its very stable all year so no real worrys, every twelve months the blood clinic do a home visit to do a double test once on there machine and once on my own machine just to calaberate the two results that aso checks my personal machine, Only one thing seems to effect my INR and thats antibiotics which means a few more tests = twice per week just to keep check. Anybody new to warfarin is dont be afraid you will settle down very fast once you become stable and will not think of it on a day to day basis. Good Luck.

Can you explain about a tissue valve
@Life-of-Bluegrass_Music
@Life-of-Bluegrass_Music 5 жыл бұрын
You can't take any supplements or protein drinks, for exercise. I been on warfarin for 4 years. Mitral valve INR for a valve is 2.5 -3.5. Others on warfarin INR is 2-3. I had a ulcer break. I had lovocs twice a day for 4 months. Took that long to get my INR regular. Those shots suck. They burn like acid, and if you rub where you injected yourself. You bruise big time.

Just eat regular eat vitamin k, if you don't eat vegetables. They can't adjust your level of warfarin. Eat consistent. Let them adjust the blood thinners to your diet. Don't adjust your eating too the thinner.

Hey man be careful with this medicine. My grandpa died due to taking warfarin and suffered brain hemorrhage and couldn't get surgery because his blood was too thin. Im not trying to scare you but warn you. You need to try to talk to your doctor for alternatives. Hope you it all goes well for you.

I'm on the drug because of Atrial Fibrillation following repair of my mitral valve. I'm hopeful that eventually the afib can be controlled via medicine. At the moment, I'm in and out of sinus rhythm while taking metoprolol. It's scary, knowing the drugs possible side effects, but so far I haven't had any bleeding problems. Small cuts do take a little longer to stop bleeding, but a septic pencil works for those. I haven't had any discoloration of urine or stools, or bruising. My Dr. has ordered a self test machine for me so I won't have to be tested in the office every few weeks. This is a good idea today with the current pandemic, plus it makes keeping your INR level correct easier. About the only thing I've cut out of my diet is Kale, which isn't something I've had often anyway. I also now avoid spinach. I asked about beer, and was told to limit consumption to 2 a day (!). Since I rarely have more than 2 a week, I guess I'm under the radar on that! (1 12-16 oz beer = 1 glass of wine = 1 shot of whisky BTW).

@@urhstudio8301 Warfarin is NOT killing you over time. That is paranoia, probably from the weed. How ironic that you think a life saving medication is bad, but don't mind smoking something that is farmed in cat urine. If you have a long term medical condition that gives you blood clots, anticoagulants will keep you alive. It's that simple.
