Great video, as someone who lives in Melbourne and occasionally uses the GoGet van I can say that your video was spot on and your experiences were similar to mine. Also if you only use the van there is no monthly or annual fee. Probably most useful for those people who have cars and occasionally need to move large stuff around…

I currently own a car in Melbourne, but for my first 3 years here I did not. Most of the time I simply used public transport. I used Car Next Door when I needed one, which does not have any monthly or yearly fees.

Thanks Tuga! That's a good suggestion about Car Next Door.

Car Next Door is great - in fact a mate of mine is sharing his car using that service. The issue for me though is, that there aren't enough cars. I live in the middle of Sydney (Surry Hills) and I have 3 GoGets within 1min of walking and 10 within 5mins, which is just super convienent, esp. since $49 a year isn't that much.
@Andytheevien
@Andytheevien Жыл бұрын
It's $49 a year, $12 a month or $30 a month. The more you pay the cheaper the hourly rate is and the more people can be added to your plan. I'm in Sydney.
@balwa999
@balwa999 3 жыл бұрын
So the catch is hourly rate is the "time constraint" and "limiting factor" is 40c/km. Bonus is unlimited petrol.

Just a heads up guys ,if you happen to have someone park in the go get spot where you picked up the car make sure you call up go get and tell them ,also tell them the exact location of the car ,the reason I'm saying this is because it happened to me ,drive safe 😊

Wouldn't mind a video with cost comparison of say GoGet versus owning a cheap car (second hand Toyota Yaris). For infrequent users (once or twice a month), I feel like GoGet is better because you're basically paying $600 a year on rego, $600 on car insurance, $500-$800 on maintenance and then petrol costs too (say roughly $2000 per year on running+maintenance costs). What would be the threshold that you'd need to use GoGet regularly enough that warrants buying a car...?
@SanjeeSen
@SanjeeSen 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Ash - this is a great topic. Comparing these costs are certainly fun to do. I've been looking at something similar. There is a lot of money spent on a car even if it doesn't leave your garage. Currently I'm looking at owning a car vs just Ubering everywhere. A Yaris is a very wise car to consider. I imagine it'll ultimately come down to personal preference because I think for some they'll just prefer being able to just jump in their own car and go for a drive whenever they want haha. Great idea for a future video though. Thanks!

interestingly i am also considering owning a car outright versus goget. my car got smashed recently so i am here to decide what to do. I see myself as infrequett car user(working remotely) but i would say at least 2-3 times a week i drive around, to evening classes, sports, food hunting etc. if i use go get for each trip, that comes to maybe 60dollars/trip so $180/week. My company offers free goget membership, so my cost would be $180*45weeks(let's say i am away travelling for 8 weeks or so each year). And that comes down to $8100 a year. If i buy a car at $36000 for example, my insurance could be somewhere around $1200/yr, rego is $1080, servicing $350, plus petrol $40/fortnight. Considering car depreciation (i am getting japanese cars which hold value well) is $1000 per year(i definitely drive less than 5000kms per year), i would say buying a car still seems a much better deal?

Thanks for making this video. Gave me a lot of ideas. Can you do a comparison of possible against all major car share companies? Goget, Car next door/Uber careshare, drive mate.

The cars normally have a fuel card with them so you can pay for fuel using that instead of your own money.

Personally having a car is quite expensive. But being in Perth, Public transport is appalling and joke. I wish GoGet was in Perth.
@SanjeeSen
@SanjeeSen 3 жыл бұрын
I can totally understand! When I lived in Perth I had to have a car - it was super cheap. I was doing "uni hours" so public transport wasn't great at those times. When the city has decent public transport it does help a lot. Hopefully they'll expand out to Perth at some point.

Question 🙋: If i book ($89/day incl. 150km) do they still add "40c/km Limitation" on the daily rate? Or only if exceed 150km? Best thing with daily fixed rate is no "time constraints" meaning u don't have to rush!

Is public transport be the best in Sydney? Some people say it's impossible to live in Australia without a car? or public transport available for 24 hours? Kindly answer my query :)

Thanks for the vid. I’m in Brisbane and have a few questions with go get cars? What is the process for filling the car up with petrol? Is that your own added cost? Also what if you just need a car as a once-off? What plan do you recommend? Do the monthly plans have a minimum of a certain number of months? Thanks for the video.
@SanjeeSen
@SanjeeSen 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Christina, I haven't used them in quite a while, but when I did - they gave you a fuel card which you used for petrol. So they covered all the petrol costs. You just had to quote the kms during the transaction at the petrol station. All explained in advance by GoGet. Regarding plan recommendations - I'd have a look at their website for the latest details: www.goget.com.au/pricing/ On the plan pricing look under "Minimum total cost". Looks like you need to commit to at least 1 month. But I could be wrong. Please reach out to them directly to confirm. They've always been very helpful when I've spoken to them on the phone.

Hi I’m thinking of doing go get in the future when I get my license but when u need to park ur car while ur using it, is it the same? Leave the keys in and lock the car with the card or is it different? If u can please let me know as I’m trying to weigh up all my options etc and see what will be cheaper for me and what will work for me many thanks
@SanjeeSen
@SanjeeSen Жыл бұрын
Hi Ellen, yes you lock and unlock the car with just the card and you can leave the keys inside the car. I think they actually recommend that. So yes if you need to park the car while you’ve booked it, you can just leave the keys inside but then remember to lock the car with the GoGet card. Hope that helps.

@rodyjr2755

It depends on the plan you are going to sign up. There are plans that allow the original account holder or original GoGET member to add 2 to 4 drivers on his/her account.

Hi Stav, no I've not used it for camping or any long trips in general. You could probably hire it out for a day which includes 150km (but I'm not sure if that's 150km per day or per booking). Best to contact them to confirm.
