If you have been looking for an easy way to needle felt words onto fabric or felt, check out today's needle felting tutorial.
SUPPLY LIST: feltingsupplies.livingfelt.co...
This needle felting tutorial came about as we were needle felting a "Thankful" pillow cover for our sofa. Usually we use our iron-on transfer pen to transfer our image onto our fabric or felt, but today we share the magic of using Paper Solvy! You can needle felt right through the paper and then dissolve it water. YEP, its fun and definitely a great beginner needle felting project. You can also get the pattern from today's show as a PDF, or get the pattern already printed on the Solvy paper so you can jump right in and get started needle felting this design.

There is something very satisfying about watching that paper dissolve like that. Good tip about starting ‘backwards’ on the tip of a letter too.

Love that I always learn something new, a new technique, a new tool or new info about the best wool to use for the project. I have felted words on one project and this paper would have made it so much easier!!! Thanks Marie and all the Fairies - you make my Wednesdays!

Looking forward to trying out this paper. My kids will love getting pillows with their names and simple motifs on it (robot/truck for tomboy 7 year old, flowers and butterflies for 10 year old and something like pi or e=mc2 for eldest). And I love the cardinal red linen!

Thank you for all the ideas and new products you show us!!! I am a newbie felter and have been trying to figure out the best way to do my first linen project and I came across this video. My husband is not a crafter but as I was listening to your video he said, "well she is fun and pleasant". Thanks again!!!

Missed the live show but happy to have the replay to watch. Love this project, simple and fast. My suggestion for the fuzzies, I use a sweater defuzzer or shaver. works great and cleans my projects up really nicely.

Thank you for talking about using it as a full picture! When I started watching this, using it for full pictures was the first thing I thought of. I have not been happy using the transfer pen - it still comes off so light, even on a light background. If you hadn't said something, I would have probably tried to do a full picture, not thinking about the paper wrinkling as the pattern was felted on. Now I'll probably use it for an outline, or if I really want a full picture, I'll do piecemeal like you suggested.

Am wondering whether you could just needle felt a design straight on the the paper without fabric. Was thinking about for wings really, do you think they would hold up ?

Love, Love, LOVE this! Question regarding dull needles: Is there a recommended time frame that needles should be replaced? Frankly I am not sure I would realize they were dull. I would just think it was me and keep poking away-lol

Marie you referred to using an interface backing. Do you needle felt into this or add it once the felting is done? Best takeaway iron on pen alternative. Thank you all.

Hi,I really enjoyed the latest tutorial and want to have a go. However, I think I may have bought the wrong Solvy paper. I bought Supef solvy from Amazon, but it looks very different to the paper you used, very flimsy and I can’t see how it will go through the printer. Help!.......Have I got it wrong?

Just don’t think you can needle felt onto the paper without a fabric backing because the fibers do not hold together without a backing once the paper is washed away. Learned that the hard way.
