I agree with you about home ownership. We have only ever owned our homes, and boy have we put a lot of money into them. The unexpected things like HVAC system replacement and major plumbing issues are a huge headache to say the least. There are times I really think renting sounds better. But I think if someone wants to own a home, they need to think about all of those expenses that will come up eventually and be financially prepared. And they also need to make sure they aren't buying more home than they need. When we are empty nesters (almost there), we are planning to move into a small home with just enough space for the two of us and a place to host overnight guests. I think having a smaller home will really help with the expenses of home ownership. Not just the purchase price, but the maintenance costs will be lower as well. I think most everyone has seen increases in their home values recently all across the USA. Higher interest rates have slowed the buying frenzy down a bit, but we shall see!

We've always bought Japanese cars, mostly toyotas. We've had my husband's Tundra for 19 years, 180k miles and no problems other than maintenance. We just bought my 2015 mazda 5 minivan for $8k. It has a 130k miles, but my mechanic says it should easily go another 100k miles. Saving up for a car takes patience and work, but it's a gift to yourself not to have a car payment, and people don't care what kind of car you drive. If they do care about it, they aren't the type of people who are going to lift you up in life anyway.

I paid $40,000 for our house, it’s a duplex and the rent we got from the tenants covered the house payment. We took over a GI loan from the landlord that owned it when we moved in. Paid it off in a little over 15 years. Now it’s worth $750,000! Still live here after 46 years and have great tenants that help me around the house. We keep their rent down to a reasonable amount. I have a property manager too, helps out buying appliances etc and is a peace of mind.

I hope & pray that your health really improves with all of the changes you're making to help yourself! Tonight hubby & I made your GF/DF dinner rolls & they were DELICIOUS! We gave up on making GF/DF bread in our new breadmaker as it's been awful! Our previous breadmaker was great, but after 15 years it gave up! Anyhow, your GF/DF dinner roll recipe is easy & delicious! Thank YOU Tawra! 🥰Blessings from South Australia💕🐨

Not sure if anyone recommended Power Steps insoles. I had plantar fasciitis 20 years ago. Went to a podiatrist who suggested I get Power Steps insoles before spending money on custom made insoles/inserts. So I went immediately and purchased a pair. The Power Steps totally curered my plantar fascists. Took about a month before I was out of pain, but did feel relief of the server pain almost instantly and I didn't have the pain in my pocket either.

Tara, I am flat footed, was born that way, and that’s never bothered me but two years ago August I had my foot completely crushed by a horse, and then when she came back down on it and twisted, she ripped all the flesh off of it. So I have a foot in horrible shape and we didn’t know what I was going to do for shoes because corrective special made shoes, you’re talking six to $800 and that just is not doable. So I happen to come across a pair of SAS shoes which are American made shoes. You can find them practically unused and sometimes brand new on eBay for cheap. I’ve gotten several pair now. I have to get the double wide because of my bad foot because when they operated on it, they messed it up even worse, which truthfully feed her the hardest thing to correct surgically. But give one of those a try. Now you’re not gonna make a huge fashion statement, but they’ve got some sort of a special concert and they’ve worked well for me.

We run our used vehicles to the ground, then sell as scrap. We are also self employed and don't have medical insurance, and pay for everything out of pocket. For us it is cheaper to pay ourselves, than pay premiums + co-pay (In Canada)

On the problem with plantar fasciitis my boyfriend has been dealing with this the last year he got these pads to put on the foot on bottom and it seems to be working. Me I am missing a bone in my foot and caused the cushion on heal and bones in foot to wear down. A few years ago, a co-worker told me to get croc shoes and I will never wear anything else. As soon as I started wearing them no pain, I am on my feet all night working nights and no pain now.

I just saw something about stimulating your vagus nerve to help ease pain. It's on KZfaq....worth trying for my back, feet and leg pains. Husband had a bleeding ulcer and was in the hospital for a week. He had to have surgery to repair it since he was bleeding out and had to have 5 units of blood. Docs didn't know how he was even alive when he went in to ER. Now he has cirrohsis stage 4 and doesn't drink!

Oh one other thing I forgot to mention, Tawra while I don’t have the planter issues that you do, the bones from the bottom of my foot are pushing through the bottom of my foot. There’s no cushion left. And I tell you that now just to let you know that I do have a lot of pain and issues on the bottom of my foot as well. I have lupus and I have spondylitis and I have a lot of chronic pain issues that have caused neuropathy as well. I just tell you all that just because these shoes if I didn’t wear these, I don’t know what I would wear. OK you have a good day. God bless.

Even if you have dental insurance it doesn't pay very much. Our insurance pays $1500.00 per year. It typically doesn't cover even one major cost. Like root canal, pull tooth and get replacement. Not really worth it. But it is part of husbands insurance plan.

@kaycure8629 it does. But we are older and a lot of our work done when we were younger is requiring replacement. Root canals and caps for instance. Or cavities that start in or around that old work.

I use sugar substitute and have made banana bread. You can pretty much make anything using those. I buy no added sugar treats like ice cream only brutes or dryers I forget the name. They only have the good one at winco.. but they have sugar alcohol. Cookies and pies. I have occasionally. I know you can’t have it Tawra. But someone else that’s sugar free might benefit
