Love this stove, I cut up an old inner tube and used it to keep the lid on, No leaks👍

It is what it is, I had one and I think it's okay. Seeing it cook is the best test to me and I know it works. Lost mine somewhere on the Fylde coast near Formby so if somebody found it, you've got a good one there.

You can disassemble it (pull the inner just out) and put a wick underneath the little holes. I started with a simlple cloth until my cabon felt arrives. With that it turns into a beast! The preheat time is very short then and the flames got even bigger. Perfect for large pots. Disadvantages: - The quite big inner diameter. So small pots or a cup wound stand on it. - The lid is loose, so you have to pour out excess alcohol.

Pouring the fuel out is difficult because of the burner holes on the outside. Some amount of the fuel evaporates in the process. That’s where the Trangia (and clones) are superior. The lid seals so there’s no waste. Lixada should design a screw or compression lid.

If your "fuel tank" gets it's carbon felt,no sloshing of liquid, even out flame, then put fuel resistant cover on stove cover, and strap down with bands.3/4 full,no leaks ,even flame!

To me not having a screw lid is no big issue. As long as its secure and doesn't rattle - my pet hate. Carrying a tiny bottle of fuel is not much extra weight. The lid is more to extinguish the flame. Two of my alcohol stoves don't even have lids. At least you can put your leftover fuel back into the bottle and with most stoves it's only a couple of minutes to wait. Speaking of waiting, I think boil time test is a bit irrelevant as you don't choose alcohol stoves when time is of the essence! I suppose worth doing for a laugh 😂

Thanks for the more detailed test of this stove. One suggestion, in my experience on the trail I rarely will have occasion with a need to boil more than 500ml/2C of water and this usually requires 30ml/1oz of fuel or less. I think a 30ml burn with 500ml of water would be a good gage for those of us who use a stove in more mobile situations. Keep making the great videos of short overnight adventures!

A small roll of carbon felt would absorb fuel, eliminating liquid excess, smooth out color of flame, and a gas resistant hood over stove, under cap. Then lash down top with a couple of bands.Might be worth a try!😂

Completely agree with your comment on how it could be improved, if it was screw top with an "O" ring seal like the trangia alcohol burner it would be a great little stove. Well presented, interesting and thorough review, well done

Brought this stove about five years ago off eBay unbranded along with my Primus LiTech Trek Kettle, both work well together and still in use for hiking and wild camping. Fits in an old SLR camera waterproof camera case and fits on my rucksack so always on hand to make a brew.

Had mine a couple of months now, used it mainly bikepacking, for the price point its excellent. It is efficient and yes a screw cap would be useful, but so far havent had to waste fuel. I also use it with the lixada folding stove if i am using a larger (8") frying pan. This combo approach so far has been very flexible.

An earlier version of this stove was my very first camp stove way back in the mid 1990’s. Mine was basically the same but the legs didn’t lock. It’s a fun stove... good for boiling. No simmer control though. The fuel capacity is a bit excessive. It might be nice to be able to burn for 40 minutes... but in most cases I guesstimated a lower fuel level. The inner sleeve on mine was aluminum as it appears to be on this one. That’s fine... but don’t let it sit with methanol in it over night... methanol corrodes aluminum. That happened to me and ruined one of mine. I always added a foil windscreen to mine. I used a wallpaper paste syringe to suck out leftover fuel.

I make no screw top DIY stoves (eg one type is a simple cat can stove) where pouring any unused fuel back into a bottle can be messy as it's easy to spill through the jet outlets. As you said, knowing how much fuel and knowing a measure for what you need means you won't have this problem and the stove will burn out soon after boiling. I use a syringe (blunt metal tube, not a sharp needle) from a computer printer ink refill kit I had lying about to measure, and determine how much fuel I needed to make a brew up in a standard sized mug, as that's what I do most between meals. If I don't get it right when estimating on warming up more water than a mug full and do have some fuel left over after boiling, I snuff the stove out, wait for it to cool and use the syringe to suck the fuel out of the stove and squirt it back into the bottle. Nothing wasted.

I have one or these stoves I cut the bottom off a coke can and when the stove blooms I place the coke can bottom on the stove as not to cover the holes A small hole in the coke can with a coin covering the hole still enables air flow and efficient burn concentrating the flame pattern to the outside of the stove and maybe conserving fuel ,I think. Works well for me though.
