🤨 I know where the music comes from. I explained that in our Bruno Mars album review in 2016. I said she sounds like Bruno Mars because of how she’s writing her songs. Really fun and funny lyrics. Im very aware of Bruno Mars 24K Magic is 80s and 90s music. That’s why I like it.

Thank you guyz! That was so annoying to see 3 Bm talking that Bruno Mars nonsense. They seemed to be more excited about him. They seemed uncomfortable displaying the excitement Lizzo is deserving of. Not a good look for them.

@@Gwenesis I think you're wrong though, i think more people get mad at people like yourself who try to make every guy look like an insensitive dick. They were making a comparison to Bruno because A) Their singning and song style is similair, B) He has been around way longer than Lizzo C) He is much, much bigger in popularity than Lizzo. No one is trying to take Lizzo down or "mansplain" her achievements. Shes talented and deserves to be where she is through her own merit, but dont be surprised when people make those kind of comparisons ect because she isn't the first or the most original.

It is not Bruno Mars it is called 80's, and 90's song and sound tracks. Young people, SMH!!!!! This video is a throw back to 70's, 80's and 90's info commercials and shows. She give me Cheryl Lynn vibes.

I think they probably know that. They’re mentioning Bruno because he’s one of the forerunners bringing the style back in the current music scene. They even used the phrase “throwback.” No disrespect, just my thoughts. ✌🏻

You guys are young so you do not realize the parody of late night TV in the 1970s and 1980s when there were just 4 major TV stations and NO CABLE networks, so you would switch between "Jonny Carson" , and various late night advertisements for Jane Fonda type exercise videos and Infomercials selling products. The final scene with the 3 singers represent Saturday morning TV where we would watch cartoons and then Soul Train or The American Bandstand with guests like Ojays , Sister Sledge, etc. the singers were parodying a girl group where Lizzo was "Dinah Ross" type singer.

Bruno Mars did not invent the soul music he sings. He is a carbon copy rip off of motown let's not pretend he has an original sound or anything. To say that she sounds like Bruno Mars is ignorant AF, do better.

I don't think you understood the comparison. He said that the "pen game" and "cleverness in the song writing" was similar to that of Bruno Mars's style, which is obvious. He did not say that Bruno Mars created the genre and she was copying it. Breaking it down, they both have songs with those catchy (sometimes corny) one-liners, metaphors, and punchlines (Ex: "Not a snack, I'm the whole damn meal" vs. "Smoother than a fresh jar of Skippy") poured over a 70's & 80's Bowie/Prince funky synthed-out instrumental. In 2019, very few artists are going back to that style. Bruno Mars is all over it right now. Again, we know he didn't invent it. But it's easy to hear the similarities in their lyricism when the musical elements are so similar.

Bruno mars also respects the history of which the music came from and pays homage to the people who created it. He is not ripping anything off and nor does he claim himself as the sole creator of soul.
