With all the changes they made to Baiken's kit in Strive I think a new type of Baiken player has emerged: The Sol player who thinks they are too clever to play Sol. They pick Baiken so they can condescendingly dismiss all Sol mains as idiot button mashers while playing a character who is every bit as mindlessly aggressive. They are actually just as stupid the average Sol player, but they get a parry every once in a while and that tricks them into believing they're Daigo. Source: Am that guy

@@kingsilver1610 So the #1 reason that new Baiken players lose is they think they should be going for parries all the time. This causes them to whiff constantly, eat a ton of counter hits, and generally just look silly. If you watch pros play Baiken, you'll notice that they don't actually try to parry that much. You only want to use the parry in situations where you can reliably expect your opponent to do a certain thing. Like, if you notice your opponent always mashes jab as soon as he stops blocking, try parrying after one of your attacks is blocked, and you might be able to trick him. This won't work on everyone. You have to actually watch what the guy is doing and pick up on his habits -- either the ones he has by default or the ones you've conditioned into him. But also, certain characters just have strategies that they like to use, so you can find common patterns that get shared across everyone playing a specific character. For example, Sol's Volcanic Viper is a great reversal. EVERY Sol player knows this. So if you put Sol into a situation where he'll want to use Volcanic Viper, you can predict and parry it. Becoming Parry God Baiken requires you to fight a LOT of people so that you can recognize player and character habits. If you're just starting out with Baiken I would actually recommend putting the parry aside for now and focusing the rest of her kit first. She has a very strong offense and doesn't need to parry to be a threat.

I picked up Goldlewis not for Behemoth Typhoon, but for Thunderbird. Because since its a strong setup type move with a delay, it reminded me of some trap setup characters I used to love watching in NRS games like Capt Cold and Joker.

I can hella agree on the Happy Chaos type 1. I used to play Zato and switched cause I was pissed they functioned the same just hc has more consistent opportunities for the high damage; more routing off stray hits like 2p, 2k/5k, 6p or a literal RNG shot that can cover whiffing for you. The key difference being one can have their party starter (Eddie) be taken away from them meanwhile the other didn't.

@@nateolison7553 Zato is definitely easier to get into but overall less consistent due to Eddie needing to be summoned for conversions. If Eddie was ALWAYS active and out he'd be broken tier. But, you can get by by understanding your different layered strings with pierce 1 and randomly throwing in 5D or throw into full combos. Definitely training mode alone helped me get carried in tournaments by just labbing a few mixups and resummon strings. This character wins neutral once and you have to block for like 15 seconds which is insane. He has too many back to back 50/50s that just auto confirm. Happy chaos is definitely stronger but its also easier to auto pilot your steady aim pressure due to people's lack of understanding for how to deal with zoning. Prepatch you could get hard carried by this alone but now you need a bunch of tricks to do well against competent players. What makes him better is ALWAYS having access to high damage while still having access to similar mixup game: 5D, crossups, high/low attempts and still get more layered pressure.. The weakest offensive tool being throw but regardless hc gets great damage off everything else and can always wallbreak off these situations regardless of positioning. Theres rare instances where he needs to gather resources again and drop a combo/reset but thats highly dependant on MUs. I think for quicker results play Zato. If you want to invest slightly more time but have overall more success play Happy Chaos.

Casual here… I’ll tell u why I moved to maining Baiken. No, it’s not the awesome boobage. The normals feel very solid for one. That jumping slash is simply fantastic. The tether gimmick is fun, and makes big boy combos pretty easy. And finally, for such a heavily offensive game with technical defensive options, it’s nice to have a really good parry. Especially one that can parry supers.

Goldlewis definitely didn't get the buffs that I thought he needed so stuff like his 2k being faster (low punish for when fs is too slow to punish), 2s being faster (13 frames for a move that loses to stuff it's supposed to beat and useless as a poke because it won't combo at its useable range) some basic stuff I thought he needed.

i play chipp cuz its fun to go fast and i like having a lot of options. if you wanna beat me tho the best advice is if you can challenge the mix and recognize when you should just block on wakeup a lot of chipp mix can just be jump forward or jabbed but also chipp is fast enough to wakeup meaty almost fullscreen

I play INo and Faust. Faust is the character I gravitated to first because he looks sick as hell and I historically love those oddball characters a lot. Really reminiscent to my reasons for playing Voldo in Soul Calibur. He also happens to have big ass normals, which I love spacing for. As for INo, the visual draw is there again, but she just feels good to play. I don't know how to describe it exactly, but something about how her combos tend to be structured and her attack speeds and ranges hits the right note. I don't normally like the rushdown type characters since my brain is a bit slow when chaining stuff together, but her mix is simple enough to grasp that I don't have much issue executing on it. She also has an odd amount of evasiveness, which I really enjoy exploiting in characters. Related to that last point, I was pretty intent upon being an Anji player initially, but something about how he felt to play was like the polar opposite of how I feel about INo. Everything felt super clunky to me, and the kit didn't mesh together in my head at all. It is what it is I suppose. I'm plenty happy with where I've ended up anyways.

Yeah, what he said about Baiken is true for me atleast. I started playing her in Xrd and solo mained her, and got pretty good. But then I decided to go back and play her in accent core and Jesus man she was a different beast, but playing those two versions really helped me for strive Baiken, who I still do main but not as a solo anymore, because the game is too boring for me with how limited it is so I gotta use more than one character in order to stay entertained

Tbf he's probably not tournament ready but Kizzie has a very respectable pocket Zato. Maybe an LK vs Kizzie match should ensure on this channel? Can I be the 4th type of Happy Chaos player? The one that really likes the character and his guns and Steady Aim feels like youre quickscoping. Once again, Bad time for the opponent, but i'm having fun :D As a Nago player. Yeah. Whiff city. Pop into a BS win or a funny loss. Bite to tilt DP players more than for legit mix in my case but aye, BRC bite is still reliable Can confirm. As someone who DOESNT play Jack-O but loves her.....it's the aspect of her doing shit and you hopefully not fighting back that draws me to her. Much much harder to do than it looks though imo

@@flayncel thanks for that but she is overtuned. Maybe you have not played against the good ones that will make you block forever in the corner. Lol ino is downplayed a bit but overall weaker than ram. I think she has a good matchup against axl but idk i don't play either. You can probably use 5p to stuff her approach, with ino if she knocks u down once u just gotta accept u are getting mixed so try not to get knocked at all.

@@shaneee3113 i feel like I'm fine against ram because usually I'm dead if I make 2 or 3 mistakes, but they're more spread out, I get more annoyed when I die to an ino because I made 1 mistake which got me knocked down, and then after blocking wrong 10 times in a row I'm finally dead. for some reason I'd rather die in 2 combos than die because I got shmixed 5 billion times, which means I enjoy fighting against big damage mfs like ram and hate millias and inos
