Everyone forgets Whodini. They were right there at the top with RUN-DMC, PE, and BDP. You could also include UTFO. LL was easily the biggest solo artist, then Kane, then KRS, and you'd reverse that order if speaking best emcee; although LL for many replaces Kane behind KRS. Man, the sheer variety of Hip Hop until the mid-90's was D-O-P-E AF!!!

@69TT the one thing I hate about him. They tried to erase biggie legacy. He always tried to do that. When biggie was destroying the game. Nobody did even know who this guy was, know they tried to make it like biggie was irrelevant . But we have to blame ourself because where the one going buying there product. James Brown is not mentioned because James Brown was not a hip hop artist. He was a pioneer in R&B and Soul music. A lot of hip hop music sampled James Brown. Hip hop music would not be the same without James Brown. But he wasn't a hip hop artist. Hip hop music sampled so many people.

Also, I would give James Brown the moniker of being one of God Fathers if hip hop because of the many songs that were sampled but hip hop sampled so many other artist. Artist whom didn't even want to be associated with the genre unless they were getting a check for their work.

For one, it was Whodini’s concert that started LL’s career. For two, Whodini was left off most of these Hip Hop 50 lineups! Including LL’s show! So him doing this was sort of a slap to the face. As far as people not coming out…. If people feel that event was wrong for excluding certain hip hop pioneers, why would they want to be there?! I didn’t go because I disagreed with the unfair ticket prices. People from surrounding neighborhoods could literally hear the entire concert from their homes, but could not afford a ticket to get into the event! The cheapest tickets were $91 for the super nose bleed seats!

Preach! Big arena hip hop shows are ZzzZzz for a fan.. A few 90s throwback shows are coming through town and nosebleeds are $125-$150. Literally no stage show. Just running back and forth.

For the Jay-Z stans that pop up in these post thinking people hating. (Allegedly) Making the most money doesn’t make you the best. Best analogy for that is MJ was never the highest paid player (and No Jay ain’t MJ cause he ain’t the best). And at one point (before messing it up aka realizing he didn’t wanna sell out) Kanye had a greater net worth. Hell, at one point Kanye was the richest Black person in America. If Lil Wayne can show up Kanye and Jay could. And Eminem. Word
