Human societies have long used the theme of the quest for self-knowledge as a vehicle to assess their own cultures and to explore ethical situations arising in civic life. This course examines texts from diverse cultural traditions in which protagonists confront their inherited identity of culture and language, providing a broader perspective on self-discovery in our own society.

This is a wonder. I read BOC and I never really thought of seeing what other people thought of it. Also this is just hilarious!

Genuinely one of my favorite books pretty good breakdown. It's all right to feel bad for Bunny and hoobler that's a real victims or Dwayne and Kilgore.

5:43 and I'm kind of raising my eyebrows sceptically. Breakfast of Champions, right? The book about the absurd pains of conformity? The book where the toxic protagonist disavows his gay son, and forces his closest confidant to repress his transgender identity? And this guy is talking about Vonnegut as if he was like 'Get off my lawn! You darn kids!' I'll keep watching. Seems interesting.

Missouri's a pretty conservative state, hey? I'm from Australia and I can't help but feel like his 'cynicism' talk is trying to soften what was a pretty scathing indictment of the USA. Isn't there even a point in the book where Vonnegut implies that the US should probably go Commie? Like "America didn't feel like sharing doodly squat".

I genuinely believe the following books need to be added to the high-school curriculum in the US, wherever possible: - Breakfast of Champions - 1984 - The Conditions of The Working Class in England

To avoid being accused of being 'cynical': The Gilgamesh comparison was pretty cool, but I was hoping he'd go further with it.

Wait... is this man entertaining? Impossible... My racially discriminatory brain says white or old people can teach good classes. This is the best class I never took! MY BRAIN... IT IS ACTUALLY LEARNING... noooooooo.
