can definitely see why they had to change the bats in this video lol, kids were hitting it out too easily

THe issue was they nerfed the bats, and also reduced the age of the kids participating. During this time, there were 13 year olds with juiced bats hitting too many home runs. Now there are 12 year olds with basically wood bats, hitting hardly any. This years LLWS was boring af.

@@Hillbillyspree in 13U travel ball the field everyone plays on was 210 feet deep and I averaged 3-4 homeruns a game with the Orange Mako Easton Ghost X

I get these videos suggested I guess because I watch baseball clips. But I saw last week that several of the top hitters, players in the llws over the years did well in HS, but most just became average players, because all the other players caught up to them in size. Pretty normal as I coached my son until HS. He played for a very good HS team and in a very talented district. In summers he was on a travel team, where most everyone in the leagues were were top players. Not many go onto the majors, due to many reasons.

I played little league max age 12, but we all had wood bats. HR’s were not routinely hit. Usually just the heavy guys. Then they introduced the first aluminum bat. Now the bats are engineered for distance and speed. HR’s are routine these days. Don’t know the little league rules these days, but seems like the entire team can hit them.

So many problems with the LLWS in the past. They finally got things right with banning teenagers from it (13 year olds playing in it was disgusting) and going with the usabat standard which mimics wood bats semi-well. I have no problem with USSSA bats when played on 50/70 or 60/90 fields, but playing on 46/60 with 225 fence was a home run derby; half of the home runs in this video should have been flyouts or just line drive singles. Personally I still think 12 year olds playing on 46/60 is too much. Most travel ball moves to 50/70 fields by 10U, and pretty much any decent 11 or 12 year old now plays 11-13 intermediate 50/70 in little league. So basically you are taking kids that haven't played 46/60 for 2 years and putting them on a smaller field just because of tradition. Doesn't make sense to me

getting rid of the bats and changing the age has only made the llws non competitive and boring and talentless

Fr it was a catastrophic difference from 87 home runs in 2015, around 50 in 2017 and down to like 12 in 2019, it has gotten worse over the years, and that’s why you see no fans on the hill anymore
