Spontaneous reaction to the songs / musical pieces "Day 11 - Love", "Day 12 - Trauma" from the album "Ayreon - The Human Equation"" in two versions (Lyrics video and live video ). The whole album will be covered : 1 hour and 40 minutes of music, divided in block of 10-13 minutes. Ten videos / ten weeks in the music of this exceptional artist.
According to Wikipedia, "Ayreon is a musical project by Dutch songwriter, singer, musician and record producer Arjen Anthony Lucassen. Ayreon's music is described as progressive rock, progressive metal and power metal sometimes combined with genres such as folk, electronica, experimental and classical music. The majority of Ayreon's albums are dubbed "rock operas" (or "metal operas") because the albums contain complex storylines featuring a host of characters, usually with each one being represented by a unique vocalist."

Day 11, the live version, starts with Edward Reekers on vocals. He's known for his work in and with Kayak. Kayak is a Dutch prog rock band (founded 1972) and i have seen them live to much to count. "Ruthless Queen" is one of their best known songs. If you never heard of them, go check them out someday. It might me be your cup of tea too. Cheers, take care!

It is extremely hard not to appreciate Anneke Van Giersbergen as Fear ]:P she's a very gifted singer to really hear her sing check out Ayreon Valley of the Queens Anneke Van Giersbergen, Marcela Bovio who plays the wife here and Floor Jansen of Nightwish with just whistle flute and acoustic guitar

The live version threw me as a first time listener it took me a while to sort each of the parts out. What a journey this I am trying very hard not to skip ahead and finish it. I have watched the Aryeon Universe concert many times but not this or the Electric castle. Really enjoying this thank you

Yes. I notices I misplace the projection, this week; leaving me to little space. It happens sometimes. I do everything by myself, very simply, so... technical issues are bound to happen. But generally speaking, I am happy with it.

Thanks Clifford. By professionnal training, I am used to ask the questions that a text will raise. Then, with al lthe options open, sometimes, we have beautiful surprises. The songs carry meanings for beyond we initially thought. That is the kind of writing that Ayreon produce. Both in lyrics and in music. Enjoy the ride!

19:00 I was late for the live Premiere, of course, and I had forgotten this bit. The lines say Me's mother lives now in isolation, depending on him... while later in the song (a striking line) declares: "Your mother died the day your father left..." It strikes hard as is, but we find earlier in the song she is still physically there (in an asylum maybe?) - but she DIED the day that man left. She either went insane or withdrew into herself. How about that for Trauma? Looking forward to your lyrics review! (47:42 Of course, you nailed it! Well those are emotions by the boatload... care for your sick mother - the only one who ever cared for YOU, or leave her whittle away, since she is not the same, and you "can't" help?) Beginning with 41:37, this is a great insight - like a "disinformation" brought upon the senses by Fear. You are afraid to go "there" for you might relive something so traumatizing, you might die... BUT - you are also past the point where you can continue with suppressed guilt. Wow. 1:02:25 Yes, "Love" is a waltz of sorts... in double time! Watlz being 3/4, and this, as you counted yourself even with the studio version - 6/8, right? So there is that vital quality to the song, intentionally installed, and even if the young people would dance to rap, this is the "portrait" of love since, well, the 19th century. :)) On the Live "theater" version, I loved the artistic choices to double up the Fear and Agony, and Passion and Rage, for certain passages. Also, I might sometimes overlook Magnus Ekwall a.k.a. Pride, but on this song - and on "Love" - he is shatteringly epic. Truly got a chill in the back and a teary eye watching this. The 2 songs together are unquestionably the emotional center of the story - and 2 of 3 personal favorites.

Day 11 - the live version was recorded as part of the Ayreon Universe live show. A kind of Best of show. Many other great live songs on there as well.

As every song is a day, Arjen had to make an adjustment on the second cd back then as he did not want to start the second cd with track 1,( as this is usually the case on a cd) as he wanted it to be nr 12 like day 12 trauma. So he had the second disc changing tracks within 30 - 40 seconds during the intro of trauma from1 until it reached nr 12....

Oh yes. And those first eleven tracks are a small reprise of previous days. I always miss it when I listen to this album from a streaming service. @Arjen Anthony Lucassen, please repair it ;)

My brother made me a copy (shame on me, but now I buy all the signed originals)of this one and the second CD had 11 small pauses because it wasn't the original. When I later on bought the original I found out that only the numbers changed but the music wasn't interrupted

Thanks!!! I knew I was taking the vid from another show, because of the date. I like to do that. To change a bit... Especially because the quality was excellent. I always listen to 4-5 seconds of the song ahaead of time, just to make that the quality is there.

One thing I especially love about 'Day 11: Love' is that Fear does present the typical doubts, but ultimately is still drawn in and swept along by Love. It's a wonderful little twist that even Fear is inclined to suggest that Me should take his chances, and reinforces Love's statement much earlier in the album; that she is the strongest of them all.

For „Love“ you chose the version of the Ayreon Universe show, which can ve described as a kind of „Best of“ show. A really awesome ahow, don’t get me wrong. It might be the best show I‘ve ever attended. It’s quite different from the Theater Equation show. Btw. When said „entracte“, La Grande Vadrouille immediately popped into my mind with Louis de Funes. Sorry, my mind seems to work in strange ways sometimes 😉 Like always, superbe reaction. Looking forward to the next one.

@@GuylainPrince Ayreon was a real concert. The songs were chosen off all of the albums without a big concept behind it. The Theater Equation was more like a musical. An then there’s the Electric Castle show as a 20th anniversary of the release of the same album. The first part was the whole Electric Castle and the second part of the show was - again - one song of every album of Arjen Lucassen. Objectively, the Human Equation might be a better album, but Indiscovered Ayreon over 20 years ago with the Electric Castle album, so… it‘s kind of obvious which one I prefer 😉

Ah, the fates conspire against me. We haven't put our clocks forward here yet, so this may be too early for me this week. I might manage 20 minutes or so of the premiere, but I can't promise. Then, I'm going to miss the following week as I'm away (I got my weeks wrong last time - I'm away next week, not this week). As if that wasn't enough, the week after it's Friday night rugby again, so I still won't be around. Will you miss me? I'll be back when I can, stay healthy....
