Even though the tooling is quite old there's no denying how smart they look; the old Hornby tooling must be just as old as the real 91s! I absolutely love the look of these sets. What a difference lights make to them. One can only imagine how great it will be to see that on the brand new tooling.

I have a nice class 91 in intercity livery my late wife got me for Christmas ,o think hornby had plans for this model ie lights and detailing pack if you look at the buffer beam there are holes maybe for pipes,but at the time of release lates 80s probably cost my one was in a set you see a great wife who understands hehe ,great channel mate all the best ,Mark

Love the class 91's. Not normally my sort of thing but I am quite fond of them, since it was my Grandad and one other guy who made all the bogies for them at Derby when they were being built back in the mid-late 80's. Great video, thanks!

I'm going to get into this hobby soon! I have a working knowledge of trains and I like trains. A lot of people would call this childish or sad but I think people should just so what they want as long as it's not harming themselve or others. And I don't see why adults with spare time and money can't just have fun so well done for ignoring those people if you've ever came across them. Probably have cause people just like to hate on KZfaq. That looks great. I have 2 complete sets of class 91s with 9 coaches each and DVTs from 90s in intercity swallow. I don't have a layout but I have put lights in DVT and locos and wiring up for DCC. I found cutting out the holes and the side valances really improves the look, which I have done on one, but PH design to etched side valances which I might buy. The whole set will be resprayed when I have time as moulded white plastic does not look good, especially when 30 years old.
@ModelTrainOutsider4 жыл бұрын
They are very sharp trains and whoever did the re-paint on the LNER is a master. On camera, those look factory fresh. Super clean and sleek, then you talk about weathering, and I cringe. lol (I like them unrealistically clean).

I used to detail and weather these locos. They can actually scrub up quite well with decent paintwork, weathering and some detailing added. The basic shape is decent even if the tooling is pretty old. Though I am told there are all-new class 91s in the pipeline. If it can match the standard of the Bachmann 90 then it will be worth waiting for!

It’s amazing what lighting and respray can do to such an old model. I still have my original one from around 1991 and until 15 years ago it could hold its own. Now, it ooks toy like and the newly tooled version from Cavalex is so exciting! The Hornby MK4’s look so cheap and basic by todays standards and lacks any real weight. It does annoy me that Hornby will still charge the earth for 91 sets you showed. Love the vid as always!

Love the recording from Newcastle central at the start. I thought I recognised that voice :) Something to note on the 225's the buffet has the standard seating so the coach in the rake should have the seating at the 91 end but on the 125 it's reversed. Also, a cracking opportunity to get 91119 Bounds Green in Intercity livery on the front of an LNER rake and still be prototypical.

If only I lived in the UK, I would've resprayed the whole rake for you for approx. 20 quid per coach (if you could provide decals). Sadly I live halfway across the globe and even if I were to do it free of cost, shipping would cost you more. That's why I have to respray my own models as getting them resprayed in the UK would be a disaster for my bank account.

I started working on Eadt Coast in 1990 whilst still part of BR. We went through the whole privatisation process and ended up with GNER. Obviously the process of respraying each DVT coach and Class91 took its time but eventually it happened.
