Lobo is NOT only a 90's Parody. Enough o'that jazz, Clyde. He has proven to be a full-fledged character outside the one-shots and solo series. Don't believe me ? Check L.E.G.I.O.N. and R.E.B.E.L.S. or his first encounters with Superman, he is a fun character in those but played utterly STRAIGHT AS A THREAT ! Even in Omega Men, he was having fun and a dark sense of humor despite being more level-headed. And in those, shit gets real when Lobo is in the place ! THIS Nu52 Lobo tries to be the Omega Men one, but falls short due to the bullshit tragic origin. People love to spout out half truths these days and it is grating to just cling to those . Lobo IS HALF Pastiche, HALF Bastich !

Sorry kiddo but he is a late 80s 90s parody, the creator literally said thats why he made him. Get over it dude, youre wrong. That doesnt mean he isnt good, hes awesome. But he was literally made to mock the overly dark dc and marvel books of the time period. No one said hes just a parody, thats you being butt hurt.

I've been hating a lot of marvel and dc's choices, where they take a character and change their ethnicity/race/religion/sexuality/age/gender/background/power set. I like the character ideas, but just not as the ones we all know and love

I don't mean this to sound in a mean or aggressive way, but why not just go back to the ones you love and let the companies continue venturing in new ideas. I hated these changes too, but now that I look back on it. I love seeing these characters evolve throughout time.

And that's probably the biggest problem with the new lobo. There was no reason to have him replace the old lobo; you can't even bank on the name recognition since you pissed off all of the old lobo fans. You might aswell just make a completely new character

To all these people who can't understand the hate, just imagine a new Batman who tries to kill as much criminals as he can, beat Barbara Gordon into a wheel chair and smashed Robins head with a crowbar because he let Joker catch him. Lobo isn't just a friggin parody he is a unique charakter with his own attitudes and principals. The new "Lobo"/ fake Lobo could have been a decent charakter if he weren't called Lobo, call him blue haired stewardess or skinny kid with gauntlets and we are fine.

+daniel prado Yeah. I get where you're coming from. But Marvel tried to bring in newcomers with their Ultimate line, and it worked. Recently, all of these reboots and world-merging events and such just muddle it all and make it confusing. Have you tried explaining the new Secret Wars to someone? It is amazingly confusing. Don't get me wrong, I totally agree with you in that many of the changes are to broaden the audience and bring in newcomers, but changes can be made and new things can be tried without ignoring or insulting the fans that have already followed for so many years. The FF have slowly become more obscure, the New 52 flat out erased some of the greatest and most memorable events in DC's history. It's possible to broaden audiences without flat out ignoring the legacy that so many creative minds put into it. (sorry for the long comment)

DC Rebirth needs to correct this mistake. It's like the flipside of the direction Griffon and Bisley went in the mid-80's, a safe, generic direction. People want the Psycho Biker Bounty Hunter Lobo who killed his planet because everyone pi$$ed him off, not this tired trope where he killed a dying Planet and is some Space vampire thing.

+KON- EL no... it's mostly the forced love plot between him and the princess, painting her in the morning and his "reluctance" in destroying his planet... he isn't Lobo a man who destroyed his planet for fun, who would hunt Heroes and Villains all for the highest Bidder. This Lobo feels like "how can we make Lobo softer, ohh I know write him like a Gary Sue/Perfect Man!"

I don’t think people hate New 52 Lobo because of his character. Quite the contrary, his story is really amazing. But most people don’t want to see him at the expense of the Lobo we all know. At least other New 52 reincarnations show resemblance of their post-crisis counterparts to some extent. A character like this Lobo should have been a completely new character. There was no need to get rid of DC’s best anti-hero

Thing is, I actually like this new origin story, but for a different character, not Lobo. People are saying Lobo was a joke character for the 90s and doesn't need to exist but with the dramatically serious stories that DC been pushing out, I think a nice joke character like Lobo would help reign in the mindset some of the writers DC has for making stories.

+Christian Neff Yeah, this was one of those comic book stories where things just happen to happen, with no real logic or motivation: "this happens, then this happens, now this happens, and then this happened." And nothing really makes sense in between. It's just random, pseudo cool stuff full of contrived conveniences.

+Christian Neff I thought it was obvious? The emperor was being an asshole who was ending the world. So he killed him out of anger. Nothing super deep or complicated about it.

It is obvious It's a really, really simple story. You guys are missing the point. The King going mad is a thing that just happened The King went mad, then Lobo went to his room to meet him (why?), then the princess popped in too just in time because she was roaming around, I guess? The she attacked a bodyguard who had no other solution than to kill the puny princess, because plot? It's just random stuff that happens because the writer says so, like a first quick draft with no revision. There's no reason for these actions, no set up, no logic, no meaning, just stuff that happens to say that Lobo is now a renegade on the run with no planet. So basically some hackneyed soap opera story to say that this Lobo is kinda like the old Lobo, but now "new". It's all contrived BS to have "action" and "drama" in the most superficial way it can be done.

still like the old lobo a lot better. he was fun to read about. and he could stand up to superman. so hopefully old lobo will show up and kill ths new one off. now that a good story.

I actually like new Lobo. Old Lobo was good when they actually used him as a serious character. He was like Machete when he'd show up as a side character in other people's story lines.

I give the new Lono Origin credit that it's well written but my argument is...this did not have to be Lobo. You could seriously put anybody else in to the role of "The Bodyguard" along with any other race of aliens and literally nothing about the story would have changed.

Why not just make a new character instead of destroying an old one? Did the DC universe really need one more blood-curdlingly boring tragic lone survivor hero, when they could have had an interesting, humorous and really quite unique anti-hero? Then again, with Man of Steel they made Superman mow down innocent civilians and kill off the bad guy, so I guess it's just balancing karma that Lobo turns into the kind of lustreless run-of-the-mill, seen one seen them all, standard formula 101 superhero that is DC's trademark these days. Then again, there is hope. Though the real Lobo is dead we must remember that he was a comic book character. And as everyone knows, no comic book character has ever stayed dead indefinitely.

Yeah, this guy wasn't terrible, but he wasn't the Main Man. It's much better that the OG came back. Kinda reminds me of the "real" Seymour Skinner from The Simpsons who nobody (even in-universe) liked.

This is a grave mistake. The "MAIN MAN" will always be my favorite. This version can die. unlike the original who the only known character in the DC univers to be at the level of untouchable. since heaven & hell refuse to accept him. DC made they original all around an undisputed immortal anti hero sum bag . but a loveable one in my eyes. . if both versions were to engage in combat. The O.G "Main Man" wins. what this is ...is DC going Politically correct.

that's actually a pretty good story. I just don't get why they had to eliminate the other one. What if there were just actually two persons claiming the title of Lobo? that would've provided for some interesting interaction, but wtv, I just don't get why they'd get rid of the first one.

I would like him more if not for 2 things: 1- He COMPLETELY replaced 90s Lobo. Good stories could have come from having 2 Lobos in the same universe. 2- THEY DIDN'T SHOW THE FUCKING FIGHT BETWEEN THE 2!!!
