🔥 *Local Finds: Episode 3 - Jude's Hot Chicken Adventure!* 🔥
Finally had the pleasure of trying @judes_br, located at the former Off The Hook location (3930 Burbank Drive). (They have the same owner). Jude’s prides itself on Nashville hot flavored sauces. Nashville hot chicken is a fiery and bold dish originating from Tennessee. It features crispy fried chicken coated in a spicy blend of cayenne pepper, paprika, and other spices. The chicken is juicy on the inside and crispy on the outside. The heat level varies, from mild to extremely hot. Served with tangy pickles and white bread, this dish offers a perfect balance of spiciness, crunch, and flavor complexity.
(Everything listed here is $9.99)
Jude’s offers tenders and shrimp in 3 different ways. A platter, tender sandwich or shrimp with slaw, GPA sauce, pickles, and fries. Lastly, you can get a tender or shrimp wrap loaded with slaw, tenders (or shrimp), mac and cheese, GPA sauce. It comes with a side of fries. Of course, the combos can be broken down into just handhelds ($7.49 each); you can get the sandwiches or meats alone with no fries or mix it up and get shrimp and tenders ($13.49) (2 tenders, 8 shrimp, and all sides).
I think it’s appropriate to break down and explain my rating scale. Anything from 1-4 is definitely not recommended. Anything 5-7 is good, but it’s not the most amazing thing I ever had. 8-10… bussin. I gave this place a 7-7.5 because the sauce is amazing but there wasn’t enough of it on the chicken. I think the mac and cheese is also super processed and definitely not giving “I tried.” It gives more of a “boxed” feeling. It tastes instant and doesn’t really do it for me in the wrap. I think what’s throwing me off more with the wrap is the lack of sauce. It needed more of a Nashville sauce-centric taste. I tasted more slaw and mac and cheese than anything. I dislike a mac that doesn’t have aroni. The score here is still decent because the tenders, fries, and slaw taste great. The fries were a bit salty. I loved the crunchy tenders. Biting into them was addictive. #FoodieAdventure #HotChickenExperience #FlavorReview
