I’m from Oahu and currently live in NY. I miss Hawaiii and my favorite comfort foods there. Sure, there’s Hawaiian cuisine here but it don’t match up to Hawaii. Poke, katsu, miso butterfish, Japanese, filipino, Hawaiian, Chinese and Korean cuisine is just bomb!!! U can’t beat the freshness and big portions anywhere. Along with the weather and chill atmosphere. Hawaii cuisine is just bomb!!!! Your video informs me of new or old places to try when I come to visit. Kalihi has great eateries which is one of my favorite areas. Actually, any area of Oahu has ono grinds.

First time in Honolulu Hawaii as of 06/02/23 My Husband has tried 2/10 places here in Honolulu Hawaii right now you recommended. My husband absolutely loved the Fresh catch (it's a little spicy but good) and we also tried Kjs fried chicken and he said it was very flavorful. So far your recommendations are very very spot on and honestly you should be a tour guide here! We give your ratings a 10/10! Love love love!

Please tell your husband we said hi and I hope you enjoy all the local foods. fresh Catch in my experience can be a hit or miss (mostly good hits) but it's def different and KJs is always on the ball!:):) Please try all the other local foods and I'm okay with being a virtual guide but if you see us in person, would enjoy saying hi to you and your husband. Spam Misubu, breakfast, lunch anytime. . . . Poi, Ahi. So much more! My great grandfather was born and raised in Hawaii, on Oahu. He came over by ship in the early 1900's to San Francisco but was deported because Hawaii was not yet a state. He was Irish. Things change.

The face he makes when he unveils the poke nachos is priceless 😳 Don't sleep on the Hawaii 7-11. I used to always get my lunch "cold salad saimen" for 2.59 every day and it was so delicious. Also their breakfast burritos are epic.

Thanks for all the tips. Just got back from Hawaii. Loved KJ’s Local Grindz. The portions were so big we ate them for lunch and dinner. And the 7-Elevens were awesome. I had a bunch of spam musubis. Wish our 7-elevens in CA had the same food.

Just wanna say thanks for your channel! I just got back from Hawaii and watched most of your videos for ideas on where to go and what to eat. I went to many of your food suggestions and am glad about that. I especially went to the seven brothers for that huge burger. ThanKS for your videos!!

Born and raised in Hawaii, after WWII, my father never ate Spam or Ketchup (called Catsup then) again. It was never served at a family dinner, but he didn't care if we had to take a can when we went camping or hunting. I and the kids still have it on hand, especially for Saimin.

@@SeanKaleponi Thank you for your response! Got it when I woke up this morning. I live about 1km from Wat Thmei Killing Field. Horrible time. I've also walked to Angkor Wat just prior to sunset from my apartment. (It's free for foreigners to enter the grounds after 5:30!) Amazing place.
