Keep in mind Sonic has a canon form called Hyper Sonic which's been achievable in some megadrive titles, so as strong as he is depicted here, they ARE holding back.

I mean, considering Sonic fought beings like Egg Salamander, Time Easter, and Solaris who can destroy multiple universes to infinite multiverses, I don’t think Sega can visually depict Sonic going all out like how the creators of Bleach or Dragon Ball can’t really depict their characters going all out visually at least But if there’s one thing I gotta say is that this game make it ‘feel’ like Sonic is more powerful than ever. Super Sonic feels unbeatable, and his counters and QTE’s are insane

I love how they didn't make him overly cocky like he has been in like Generations, Colors and Forces. Him in Adventure 2 was the perfect balance of slight cockiness without coming off as just arrogance like in future games, and Frontiers I think pulls him back there.

Fun fact the people who made this bosses ost. “Find Your Flame” are the same people who made Infinites theme in Sonic Forces and it really shows even some of the lyrics are similar but it’s still Fire!

Find your flame feels almost like a counter to Infinites theme. Same energy but directed in the opposite direction. Infinites is angry, spiteful and trying to inspire fear at his shear power. Find your flame, on the other hand, is hopeful, inspiring and all about how Sonic means funkin' business.

The titan fights in this game are the absolute HEIGHT of Super Sonic gameplay in any sonic game ever. The music is stellar, the combat is super rewarding, and the finishers in every single one are absolutely LEGENDARY. I never thought I’d be so hyped over a speedy blue rat with sneakers but here we are.

Looks like after like 30 years, Sonic Team finally hired a gameplay designer for the modern 3D games. This is the first game that has such a rich moveset with varied combat for Sonic. And what's more, it shares this moveset with Super Sonic. You no longer get a completely new character to play for the last boss and have Omochao explain you the buttons at the end of the game. You already know what to do. And no longer your friends keep taking turns in talking to you about what to evade during the fight. Sonic doesn't even have some wanna be witty one liners. No, it's just the coolness and spectacle we always knew was possible, we just didn't think Sonic Team can ever deliver. Well, it eventually did. And I don't know if this is overall the best boss battle in gaming, but surely it's the best boss battle in Sonic.

Hey, the titans have absolute bangers of music, but something about knight's is just pure testerone level of kickass, you feel in the zone, this boss just feels extreme, fun , directing his saw shield back at him and sonic knocking him into the sky, and good god that ending. Just pure badass, and let's not forget Tyler Smyth singing again for another song for the sonic franchise, and I love this more than infinites theme

perhaps at the 2023 game awards considering this game released too close to the stream date of the 2022 game awards. hell I'd choose to vote for this game getting Game of The Year on Principal considering if it wins by popular vote Sega may just decide to make all of Sonic's future mainline games Open Zone/Open World style because their fanbase liked the game enough to make it win awards.

Sonic wasn't a joke character though. He's always been better than his opponents, even when he's at a disadvantage. In Sa2 Shadow had to call Super Sonic The Hedgehog "The ultimate Life Form." Even when pressured like in Secret Rings, Unleashed and Black Knight he rises to the challenges. Time and time again he's found his flame and came out in top even when he didn't even have his friends with him.
