Locating and pumping out a septic tank that hasn't been opened since it was installed. This tank was very thick. We usually recommend pumping out systems every 3-5 years to increase the lifespan of the entire septic system.

As a homeowner/landlord I find myself intimately involved with my two septic systems. They both now have had outlet filters in them for the last 20 years and wet wipes never see the light of day on my property..:). One of the systems was designated as having a failing leech field when I bought the place but its still working perfectly.

Good informational video! I was REALLY impressed with how precise you were with locating the tank lids buried so far down in the dirt/lawn! Good job!

This is a prime example of why leach fields only last 20 years when they can last 50 years plus with proper maintenance and water conservation.

It's costing my brother €15,000 (euros) to replace the leaking one in the farmhouse house he has bought in France.
@gauravvij67
@gauravvij67 Жыл бұрын
@@lynn69jackson'm doing myself the pipes and fabric for top of gravel cost 1100, the gravel costs 300 and the excavator hire and diesel costs 350 for weekend. Put new lines between old ones. My system also needs a two compartment septic Vs the old one so that's costing another 2300+ excavator hire of 350, basically leave old tank and divert the inlet to the new tank side by side old one to save cost. I'm also fitting a new distribution box that's another 350 euros. About 4200 euros not much really and I can replace lines in future real cheap by hiring an excavator pulling them up and gravel and putting new in about 2000 euros.

If we ever renovate the old farmhouse, I think I'm going to talk to my folks about installing risers for the tank(s?) in the yard. Idk the last time it was pumped or anything, but making y'all dig for it would make me feel like a jack@, lol.

We have no issues with digging since we charge for it. I usually recommend them because it makes it easy to gauge how your system is doing. If it’s buried and your house backs up you can’t really do anything until the lids are exposed. I feel like they’re a great investment

Yup, father in law keeps telling me 'oh just flush some ground beef once in a while... take care of it no problem", like where do people come up with these things. Sure it needs bacteria, and yeah maybe it can get some from the beef... but just adding more solids and a ton of fats to the problem.
@SCH292
@SCH292 2 жыл бұрын
@@mirthenemrys Talk about bacteria. I remember hearing an old timer saying that you shouldn't pump your tank all the way because it will kill off all the bacteria colony living inside your tank. You're suppose to pump half or most of it out and leave some at the bottom. I also heard of the septic tank worm myth too. The worms will eat up all the solids and die off.

My landlord thinks just putting septic enzymes in the septic tank will keep it from ever having to be pumped out and I live in a four apartment unit I may be the only one that doesn’t flush down any toilet paper or anything down the toilet other than waste if it was my personal septic tank it would be very clean per se because even though toilet paper says septic safe wads of it can turn into clumps. that’s why the saying is you have a septic septic system only flush down waste from your body that’s it.

depending on # people in house depends on how often it needs to happen 5-6 ppl yea you will need it done every 3-4 years. only have 2-3 people depending on gallon tanks you have 6-7+ years. in recent years they been doing a riser that they install on tank to make lid at ground level. Years ago they didn't have those to do that and can't have them near ground level cause freeze issues that and people weren't lazy f's and had the ability to dig up cover.
