In this two-part video, I will discuss (in the present video) Joseph Smith's treasure-seeking activities in the Palmyra/Manchester area, and (in the next video) at various locations along the Susquehanna River running through Harmony, Pennsylvania, and the southern New York counties of Chenango and Broome. The purpose of this video is to explore some specific locations claimed for Joseph Smith's treasure quests.

Extremely well researched and documented. He has both public and private records that substantiate the historical realities of Joseph Smith Jr. Mr. Vogel has done a great job of researching and historically unpacking the timeline of Smith Jr. & family's preoccupation with "treasure seeking" and "digging & seeing." Look forward to Part II. Well done!

If only I had known back in 1964 when visiting the Hill Cumorah what you have now illustrated with your excellent work and presentation, my eyes would have been opened much wider. The Smith family gold digging would only be highly entertaining if it had not lead to the formation of a mind numbing and family splitting religion based out of Temple Square in Salt Lake City. Keep up the excellent research!

Hmm idk. If you look at religions you could say they’re all Mind numbing and family splitting. King Solomon in the Bible used a magical stone a Shamir to cut rock. Moses practiced occult magic and turned his staff into a snake. Judah impregnated his daughter in law. They had a commandment that if their brother or the spouse dies the next brother had to marry her. It’s great people are critical of the Book of Mormon and Joseph smith. But people should be equally critical of the Bible and Christianity. I thing I do find lacking is the videos focus solely on smith or Mormonism disproving it. That’s great, but like then there’s no explanation or promotion of the Bible or to be critical of the Bible and expose it. Like Mormonism is just a small Percentage of Christianity. Like he could help a lot more people to if he’d be critical of the Bible and show the occult magic and extreme contradictions found there in. Maybe he’s Christian and likes the Bible. Idk.

I’m not looking for evidence for and against Joseph Smith. I’m just using the best evidence to reconstruct the story. If you have any specific complaints about my work, let’s hear it. The question is: will you be fair and balanced in judging my videos. So far I haven’t seen it.

It seems you have a habit of sidestepping issues by making personal attacks, which BTW are inaccurate. Of all the non-believers who comment on JS, I am the most charitable. I certainly don’t condone what Boggs did or what happened in his state. In 1826 JS was guilty but not convicted.

Your argument above that you can ignore me because I’m biased against JS is illogical and untrue. My position is that JS was religiously sincere but believed deception was necessary. Because I reject the Book of Mormon as a real history, I spend much of my time unraveling JS’s deceptions. I take a critical approach to all sources, both Mormon and non-Mormon. Do you?

Of course, the stone is just a curiosity-nothing more-even if JS and others regarded them as possessing special properties. Undoubtedly, the average Mormon still believes this, but more sophisticated believers would explain that the stone was merely a vehicle for revelation-a focusing point on which images in the mind were projected. Indeed, other objects have been used in similar fashion since ancient times, such as a crystal ball, the surface of a pond, a cup of ink, or edge of a sword.

If you have been following my response on the video about the “Occult Context” of the coming forth of the BOM, you will see that I oppose portraying JS as satanic. The link to treasure lore is that the messenger was a dead mortal (necromancy), who attacked JS when he tried to take the plates. It wasn’t enemies ridiculing JS who added such elements, but JS who deleted them from his story, although the Lewises unintentionally mixed elements from JS’s treasure stories with the Moroni story.

I have only heard about Palmer's article. I'm just trying to get the information out to the people, but I have no advice about what to do with this information and leave to each person to decide what it means to their lives. I'm not in the business of repairing damage (I'm not sure what that means really), although I am sympathetic.

Pre Mormon days: why did these guys expect to find treasure in anonymous hills in upstate New York, even if they did look in a magic hat? I've got it: pirates! Arrh, I'll leave my gold and silver in the hill near Joe Smith's place and never return for it, matey! Puhleeze...

Well, I've got my hands full just doing Joseph Smith's life in New York and Pennsylvania period. I have a lot to say about this period before I think of what happened in Ohio, Missouri, and Illinois. Yes, JS was persecuted, but so were a lot of other religions (like Quakers and Catholics). Instead of trying to dictate to me what I should, I think you should just sit back and see what I can show you.

Luman Walters name is not the one he was born with. It's a magical "numerologically" powerful name. I haven't found his "born with" name. He was Joe's mentor. As was another occultist with a numerological name of Lawrence. Lawrence helped Joe dig for the plates. But that attempt failed and Joe didn't use Lawrence again. Instead he used a girl named Emma. L. Saunders spoke well of the Smith's, saying they were hard workers and honest. Hurlbut (E.D. Howe ) didn't use his affidavit. Joe was as bad at geology as he was at Egyptian alphabets...The hills around him are not man made. They're glacial drumlins. Thus, JS must have believed he was digging up a man man hill in search of his treasure.

If you know about numerology is Moses a power occult name? I’ve been reading about the occult or odd phenomenon etc. Ya smith delved into the occult and magic. But Moses did to. The pharaohs did magic. The Bible says they battled and Moses threw his staff down that became a snake and ate the other staffs. Like that’s some serious occult magic right in the Bible. Or teleportation is in the Bible to in lots of verses saying someone was carried away by the spirit. Like how does a non tangible spirit move a physical object or person? It’d be great if they did a video exposing the Bible. The Bible’s like witches are bad, but then Moses turns his staff into a snake. Like that seems occultish to me. I’ve never seen a rational explanation of that.

My next question would be this; even if you were able to view this stone, hold it in your hand, examine it, what would it prove? I would need to have a complete scientific analysis done on something like this, much like the shroud of Turin. Religions make claims, but never seem to have the evidence available to back them up, would you agree?

Just ask God, “I am more afraid that this people have so much confidence in their leaders that they will not inquire for themselves of God whether they are led by him. I am fearful they settle down in a state of blind self security. One can read volumes...public writings, extemporaneous sermons, and private journals. One can reflect on the hundreds or thousands of miles of travel on missionary journeys and Church business. If the writings of Joseph Smith, Brigham Young, John Taylor, Wilford Woodruff, Heber C. Kimball, George Q. Cannon and many others cannot persuade someone that they were honest men (even if mistaken) then one should sincerely question whether such a person is capable of looking charitably upon any Mormon

However, Moroni's status as an angel and messenger from God, is well attested in the early sources. Interestingly, the "treasure guardian" motif becomes more common and distinct in later sources, especially those gathered by enemies of Joseph, who sought to discredit him through ridicule and association with the (increasingly disreputable) practice of "treasure digging."

Martin Harris came back and died with The testimony of its truth fullness on his lips, Oliver Cowdery testified to his end as well tht he saw the Angel. David Whitmer saw Joseph as a fallen prophet But never recanted his testimony of what he saw. The outcome falls in favor of The Golden book. All had a chance to yell foul but did not.

Scott M of course they never recanted as it would have destroyed their credibility, and would have made their word worthless. Come on think man, would you have admitted that for decades you participated in a giant deception and the formation of a religion based on that deception, and caused thousands of people to follow a false prophet and a false doctrine that was extremely blasfemous & satanic according to your admission to the deception, as well as give me hundreds & hundreds of dollars for the proliferation of this satanic fantasy. Money that you had worked o your fingers to the Bone to aquire?? So Smith could squander of say, purchasing mummy's, opening illegal banking charters building himself multiple home's, having multiple wife's, etcetera etcetera etcetera, ad nauseum!! Man open your eyes. This video is based on factual evidence
