Lockyer Valley Regional Council has begun introducing a new planning scheme with the potential to profoundly affect plans some residents may have for their land.
Lockyer Valley residents were alerted to the changes to the existing planning scheme, with proposed new zoning of some properties according to their history of flooding, via the post last month.
The letter proposed changing some properties previously zoned "Rural Residential" to "Limited Development" according to their level of inundation in the last major floods of 2011 and 2013.
Carolyn and her husband live in Helidon, close to the border of Postman's Ridge.
The couple live in their "dream home" where they run horses and live the sort of lifestyle that would be the envy of many.
That's why she was immediately concerned when a letter from Lockyer Valley Regional Council appeared in her mailbox - a letter she didn't pay much attention to at first.
