I have installed about 30 or more sound decoders, I mostly use iPhone4 speakers, I think you will be impressed with the sound, bare in mind that to reproduce low frequency sounds, you need a very large speaker, one that would dwarf even O scale locos.

That is a vast collection! Get well soon to Zoe.

Oh, and another tip, if you can possibly avoid it, no speakers in the belly of the loco (fuel tank), I have one loco that had a speaker in the fuel tank, after a few hours of running the sound was extremely distorted, cause was metal filings on the speaker cone, these were picked up from around the track and in the ballast, I ended up installing an iPhone4 speaker on the ceiling of the body shell.

I can highly recommend using the iPhone speaker with the tts sound decoders. I have used one in my class 66

Hello Jenny I had the standard train set as a child and it certainly got some use , then we grow up and life comes along ? The hobby has certainly come along way and the layouts I’ve seen on you tube are amazing , I would like to try and build a small layout and learn as I go because as a beginner I know nothing I’ve purchased the peco railway modelling and layout construction book , The peco track plans and the peco railway models and publications and I’m reading the laying the track series booklet No 3 and trying to understand the different types of tack . I think doing some research first before buying anything is the correct way to go about it and I would like to attend some model railway exhibitions in 2023 I’ve just watched your video which I’m assuming is in your loft and have liked and subscribed. Who does the dusting in your loft? At the moment I take all of my locos out of their original boxes, which are then stored safely in a cupboard, wrap the locos in bubble wrap, and put them in more substantial homemade cardboard boxes. I'd prefer to leave them on display, but won't they get very dusty left in the open air?

Hi Jenny. No-one would deny that modelling railways is a cheap hobby. I have noticed that quite a few KZfaqrs have a very extensive collection of locos and other rolling stock; also much expense has gone into detailing the layouts. I would love to know how you (and/or others) insure your everything you have - do you just have an arrangement with you home insurance company, or do you use a specialist company that you can recommend?
