Railroad Switching on Short Line Railroad in Ohio. Sardinia, Ohio has 8 classic locomotives in one small railroad town. The train arrived with 3 locomotives and 3 cars. The cars were cut off and one locomotive was swapped for another that had been on the engine maintenance track inside the railroad wye. Watch the railroad shunting action as the classic locomotives go back and forth. We also get to see the train pass by us near Macon, Ohio after the switching was done. We see the railroad crossing that just had new railroad crossing gates installed. There are also a couple of Norfolk Southern SD40-2 locomotives stored there for their new owner. This is the Cincinnati Eastern Railroad CCET. CCET leases 69 route miles of track from NS and Sardinia is the main area for locomotive maintenance . Filmed February 15, 2022.

They may be doing there locomotive inspections at Sardinia too. The daily inspection can be done by the engineer. But the 31 day, 92 day, and the annual inspections are done by the mechanical department.

Love those old workhorses. When I was a pup growing up in Cincy, I'd run down the hill and watch shortline ops for hours. It was all fascinating like watching a game. Locos positioning cars, lining them, big guys throwing manual switches, the lead loco is now the rear, pulling the whole consist away, horns, lights, gates up and down. Youth, man.

JT, you seem to be a perennial fan of the CCET. Could you ask them when they will paint the two B36 units? Or, if they plan to dispose of the HE's, now that they have complete EMD power in the collection?
@JawTooth
@JawTooth 2 жыл бұрын
Those locomotives are really neat to watch and listen to. I actually took pictures of them before CCET bought them. They use to run on the TTI Railroad in Paris, Kentucky. Almost all of TTI tracks are now out of service so they sold 2 of them to CCET. One of these days I plan on filming the TTI tracks before they get removed
@georgejenista9487
@georgejenista9487 2 жыл бұрын
@@JawTooth TTI's website shows one or two GE's in a "modernized" livery. They're averting the transload and car storage capacity. CSX owns them, of course. Would there be an advantage if the line would be used for directional through-traffic?

Hello,fellow Pennsylvanians. Randy from Eastern Pennsylvania,Bucks County. I am fortunate in my work to drive to accounts like Sheetz in Altoona,Weis Mkts in Sunbury,and C&S in Robesonia. Never get tired of going to the Curve. If you've never been to Tyrone,that's a great place to see some in town freight railroading as well as long consistent main line freights too. Brian's the best,no doubt. He's so right on these trains in his area. Another great train viewing place is in Alburtis,off Rt 100. The mainline freights come trucking out of the Allentown Yards thru Alburtis,the town. But,if you set up on Schoenersburg Road near the RR crossing,you can catch NS,UP sometimes CPRail coming from the Midwest to Allentown and vice versa. You can catch a nice long run of the locos sides either way and without a scanner you can hear them in plenty of time. Superb photos when there snow on the ground!!

Lotta folks with interest already at the museum. Warm, sunny weather today... high of 81°F. I know a fun and inexpensive taco place near their show (great for babe watchin').
