LOCOS at Carnforth! Complete WHITE-OUT from Tangmere! Plus 88003 at SPEED & 88007/68007 28/10/23

Well Spam Can 'Tangmere' put on a memorable show today at Carnforth! Similarities with a blizzard in the Alpes in January springs to mind..! See the loco change with 57601 making way for 34067 to head the day's railtour onto Carlisle via the WCML.
Also seen is 88007/68007 paired up providing '007 heaven' on the southbound nukes to Crewe Coal Yard.
Following this - Stablemate 88003 blasts through northbound with stock for Tesco's stores across Scotland.

Do they really have to let so much steam out from the cylinders during start off? i don't remember seeing this kind of stuff on old videos, etc. if the drivers are doing it for effect!! the effect is rubbish, you cannot see the darn thing, so how can they see where they are going or signals for that matter. if a signal was suddenly put to danger in front of that train during that pull away, that driver had no chance of seeing it!

It’s particularly noticeable in cold weather. If that was filmed in summer it would be a lot less noticeable, though there would still be some clouds down by the cylinders

I saw tangmere just north at oxenholme and got a mouth full of some pretty dark steam and smoke. There's a video on my channel if you wanna see my perspective

Thanks very much - There are stock moves booked from Fort William on Monday and Thursday next week. I’m not sure what is on each move yet.. I’m not ex-Railway myself 👍

I think West Coast Railways loco colour is the most drab and uninspiring livery on the railway. Even the size of the yellow ends, company logo and name plates don’t look right.

Seems to me that was almost malicious by the driver, he must know that people want to see and are filming the event, I've seen it on numerous occasions

Utterly ridiculous comment ....anyone who has driven steam will tell you you need to open the cocks to clear water from cylinders or untold damage can result....stick to diesels my friend!
