This way of working have been suggested by ROLI and there is also a little MPE script for Kontakt floating around. There is way more stuff possible to do going into settings and messing around, but I wanted to keep to the bare minimum basic level here. 😀👍

That is already possible! Setup in a plugin host like Kushview Element (for a plugin version inside MG3) or in GigPerformer to work with MG3 as a plugin in that environment. From there you can send single notes/channels to whatever setup you like and have them rotate or whatever. It is up to you to find the workflow that is best for you. MG3 can't be everything at once, you know.

Thanks Peter.🙏 The only one I have tried of those you mention is the OT Evolution Boutique Acoustic, which needs no setting up for the polyphonic bends to work. And it plays rather nice too. I would love to try everything, but I can't afford it. Any company that would be interested in having their products tested are more than welcome to contact me, but I am not expecting much. I even have tickets out with the big names in the business, just to get their instruments working (maybe a future video) 😬 I have very little hope for most developers in general that make their instruments with keyboards in mind primarily, and let every other controller users be afterthoughts. We need developers to start developing directly for MIDI Guitar to get real life-like playability. 👍

But don't you have a Roli Seaboard? Or am I mistaken? You should be able to test many libraries MPE compatibility with that?

Det är inte så mycket trackingen i MG3 som är problemet, som att instrumenten är gjorda för en annan typ av kontroller (oftast keyboard). Jag her hittat några guldklimpar bland traditionella Kontakt instrument som faktiskt tolererar strums och ett nästan hundraprocentigt gitarristiskt spelsätt. Men de tillhör fortfarande undantagen. Det kommer nog att bli bättre ganska snart med MPE synthar och instrument som i bästa fall skrivs direkt för MIDI Gitarr. Latencyn är knappt märkbar, men då bör du också veta att jag aldrig hade problem med den i MG2 heller. Så om du har upplevt att det var ett stort problem, så kanske du känner av den i MG3 också? Vad vet jag? Den går ju inte att få bort helt, givet att gitarrljudet ska analyseras och konverteras till MIDI/MPE.(If, by chance, you are not speaking Swedish, I apologize for the inconvenience of having to resort to Google translate) 😀👍

(Har inte lagt timmar på det dock) Vill kunna spela in midi från gitarren och använda mina surt köpta bibliotek för att få klockrent ljud. (Trodde jag skulle bli bättre på keyboard än jag blivit :) Jag ska testa betan. Kanske det räcker för mina behov. Vet du om det kommer att bli någon uppgraderingskostnad om man köper 2’an? Ja, jag har också tagit svängen över Rolands grejer. Hade Gr33, VG88, VG99, GR55 och GP10 innan jag gav upp på dom helt. Har också testat FishmanTriplePlay, men var inte superimponerad av den heller. Den skall vara snabb(ast), men den har ju andra nackdelar: odynamisk MIDI och knöligt användargränssnitt. MIDI Guitar 3 är bättre i alla avseenden, men det har fortfarande begränsningar. Jag råder alla att prova innan de köper, och JamOrigin har ju väldigt fördelaktiga demoversioner. Så chansen att skaffa sig en välgrundad uppfattning of mjukvaran finns, för alla som är intresserade. Och vidare, alla som har en MG2 licens, uppgraderar till MG3 gratis. De är två olika appar, så man får egentligen dubbelt så mycket för pengarna om man köper MG2 först, men det är ju förstås en fråga om vad man finner mer intressant. 👍

Answers: 1. No , you don't need a MIDI pickup. The software use the guitar audio from you ordinary guitar pickups. So jsut connect you guitar diectly to an audio interface with nothing between, and you are good to go! 2. The trial is exactly the same software, but with some timeout function. So yes, you can setup all your VSTs.

You are correct in that JamOrigin is getting help with the beta testing first from its existing MacOS user base. Anyone interested in joining in can of course purchase a license to the "old" MIDI Guitar 2 software, to take part. Reading from the JamOrigin beta testing page "First round of BETA testing will be limited to customers of the MIDI GUITAR 2 plugin, and limited to MAC OS. A second round will for everybody who have signed up to our mailing list (you can sign up below). Windows and iOS versions will arrive here." www.jamorigin.com/beta/ I don't have a date for this. You best follow the page for updates and news. 👍

Well, there is a techical limit to six simultaneouly played notes , due to the way MG3 makes use of MPE. The rest is more a question of pitch range. I believe the software now cover E2-E5 in the beta version. What JamOrigin will end up with for the finished version is not clear yet. What pitch range does pedal steel cover?

There will be a MIDI Bass 2 version coming later. It will not be fully polyphonic, but instead duophonic because of the technical issues with the tracking in the lower octave. To your other question, you can absolutely blend. Use two tracks like I describe in the video with the Mix/blend function. 👍

Nope, just guitar straight into the audio interface. The MIDI Guitar3 software is responsible for turning that into MPE.

The instruments needs to be MPE compatible for you to ”make full use” of it, but what constitute an MPE instrument is unfortunately not 100% clear. MPE is really not much more than old scool MIDI together with a defined distribution principle: with notes sent on a per-channel basis together with its own pitch bend and modulation information. So I don’t know how to answer your last question. You can use MG3 with any kind of instrument, it doesn’t care. But to make use of something like brightness on CC74 (for whatever is associated with the SLIDE dimension) you need an instrument that is prepared to recieve such information.

Of course not! Multis have been a thing as far back as I can remember.

There were plenty of chords in the video, and all is played and recorded in real time, so yes! Can I play everything in exactly the same way as on a ”real acoustic”. No! You still have to take into consideration that it is only the pitches from the guitar that is analysed and converted. Any non-pitch sound like pops or chugs or chaka-chakas are not going to be going translated correctly. 👍
