You are really the best shapr3D tutor on the entire internet. Why? Because you really explain everything step by step and don't forget that even the smallest hint is important for us beginners. There is a huge difference whether a command is executed with or without the Shift key pressed. Many other tutors forget this because it is a given for them. There are also many helpful "tricks" such as the one in the post with the space bar so that you have a layer directly in front of you. I am really impressed by your clear and unambiguous instructions.

You've got a knack for explaining things VERY clearly and quickly. Thank you for educating me on the Shapr3D Loft function! So far I had only used it between two planes/surfaces. I did not realize we could use guide rails to help define the path. So useful! Thank you!

Thanks for the great tutorials! I noticed here that both arcs' centers are not quite colocalized. Instead of creating a new arc from scratch, would it have been possible to duplicate the first one and increase its radius?
@PDOShapr3d
@PDOShapr3d Жыл бұрын
Hi Christophe - thanks for your support! Yes, I believe the 'Offset' sketch tool would allow you to do that. You may need to calculate the distance (based on how the offset dimension is defined) to ensure it is connected to the loft profiles.

thank you and your tutorials are so helpful for beginners like myself. i was wondering what if you created only one guide curve at the center of each circle instead of 2 guide curves. will that also loft the 2 circles with the same result as having 2 guide curves? also, which command do you use to get to the tool you need by entering in the search box that I see you do on your tutorials?
@PDOShapr3d
@PDOShapr3d Жыл бұрын
Great questions! Loft requires your guide rails to intersect the cross-sections (sketch profiles), so it won't work in the middle (at least at this time). You could use the Sweep command and a simple circle to create the same shape. In most cases, your loft guide rails will define more specific curvature, such as the grips on a handle, etc. See example here: support.shapr3d.com/hc/en-us/articles/7874427572508-Loft On the Mac version you can simply start typing on a keyboard for a feature and it will automatically open the search box / start searching for that tool. I believe this is also the case on Winosws - and the iPad (if you have the attached keyboard).

Love these videos, thank you. However, I am having an issue with this one. When I do the step at 4:38 on my MacBook, it works perfectly, but when I do it on the iPad I get an error saying the "Operation failed because the resulting body wouldn't be valid." Why would this be?
@PDOShapr3d
@PDOShapr3d 9 ай бұрын
Very strange! Are you using the same file on both or did you recreate the file on iPad? The only thing I can think of (if the latter) is that there's a discrepancy with the spline touching the circle. If the same file, then I'm not sure why that would be and it may be worth sharing with the Shapr3D team to investigate, as it could be a bug. Generally, all three operating systems should respond the same :)

I’m getting the same issue on iPad after following every step exactly. I’m not moving a file from Mac to iPad. When I create the loft and try to curve the arc I get the error.

I’m using the iPad, so this may be a factor - your drawing lines seem to auto lock with the purple circles. I have to manually lock mine, is there a setting to change to auto lock?

Good question! I unfortuantely don't know as I don't use the iPad version very often. An employee on their forums may be able to give a precise answer... they've been changing a lot of the user interface and settings in the last year :) Forums: discourse.shapr3d.com/

If a guide rail consist of an arc and a line extending from it, I can't get the loft to travel the arc then the line, without an error.

Hello there, I am trying to create a Shoe Last in Sharpr3D and i have not seen any tutorial on that. I am a footwear professional and I am interested in creating some thing like that in this program. any help would be hugely appreciated. I can learn the basics then i can actually work on a tutorial with very technical details of Shoe last making.
@PDOShapr3d
@PDOShapr3d Жыл бұрын
Hi Nelson, I wouldn't recommend Shapr3D for something like a shoe last. Particularly, if you plan to make shoe last on a regular occurrence. You'll be better off with a program that allows true 'surface modeling' and/or sub-d modeling, where topology is front an center. Maya, Fusion 360, or Shoemaster are worth checking out. If you really want to give it ago in Shapr3D, you'll have to conduct a number of Lofts. The Loft command is really the only way to get that shape done.
