I adored it. I actually got teary eyes at the end. As a 22 year old, Hugh Jackman has been Wolverine for most of my life so it was quite an emotional conclusion to a long saga, because of that seeing Wolverine so old, so tired and beaten down was slightly harrowing for a character we know and love. I thought the acting on everyone's part was phenomenal, the girl who played X-23 was brilliant and if she doesn't get her own standalone film it'll be such a wasted opportunity. All in all, a perfect and well deserved end for a much-loved character, all ends were nicely tied up while creating potential for a new series of X-23 (new x-men?) films.

I feel ya. I too feel Hugh Jackman's Wolverine was my first superhero. I didn't get teary. I BAWLED as the credits went up. It was like a part of me had died. (Throughout the whole film I was like 'Don't hit him, you bastards!' hahaha) And the last film that made me cry as much as that was Les Mis....Jackman effect, I guess. He's so damn good at conveying guilt and remorse and goodness that shines through the darkness. He has become one of my role models, because whenever I see that man and his countenance, I wish I can grow old like that- humaneness seeping from every wrinkle.

I was shocked by Logan. It was gritty, down to earth, brtual, emotional, and even funny in the right places. The violence was done so well, and it has raised the bar for all superhero films, even though it doesn't really feel like one. Nice to see a superhero not in a plot that involves saving the world. 9.5/10

“Living with a legacy of violence”.. such an interesting point. When you strip away the glitz and quips and colourful costumes; what our heroes are doing is engaging in extreme violence. This movie found an amazing way to show that while still having it be apart of the larger comic universe
@lw3646
@lw3646 Жыл бұрын
Yes, westerns went that way in the 90s and 2000s. Our popular films today are quite violent but it's violence with little meaning and no real consequences, I'm thinking of the new Star Wars and Marvel movies, half the time they are fighting ugly looking monsters or guys in helmets with no faces so its therefore fine.....

Yes! I'm so glad Mark liked this. I'm so tired of critics treating comic book movies as being lesser to other films and this is a great example of a comic book movie that doesn't feel like a comic book movie, it's so much more than that. Just like all the best comic book movies it transcends the medium, it's not really a superhero movie, it's a great dystopian neo-noir western about someone trying to keep an old guy alive whilst taking a girl across the border. It's essentially a film about family, relationships, growing old and dying and just happens to feature characters who have super powers.

Exactly, because I don't think of comic book movies as a genre unlike everyone else, a film like Logan proves this by showing that a Wolverine movie can be a Western - not all comic book movies are the same, comic book movies can be any genre the source material requires them to be, that's my point.
@sanyrub
@sanyrub 7 жыл бұрын
Lesser? Haven´t you seen some exaggerated positive average scores in many sites (critics reviews supposedly) for average blockbusters which happen to be cbm like Avengers and the likes? They have got way too much shine if anything. If what you are refering to is that the moest serious or important circuits (like awards season for example) refuse to give them credit for their screenplay or acting pieces then yes, you are right. They treat tem as lessers, which is what they are. Apart from the Nolan films and a few more great things here and there, it is just average entertainment. I like many of them, but come on, they are not better than other generic blockbusters from other genres.

Great movie. The Logan film we’d been waiting for for a long time - violent and thoughtful at the same time. The great thing about the wolverine character is that he is full of emotion, and not just rage, but love, regret and so much more. He is possibly the best mutant character as a representation to explore mental health issues that I can think of and this film shows that perfectly. Plus, what a great final bow for huge action 👍.

@isabellamorris7902
@isabellamorris7902 7 жыл бұрын
Yes, but it's still about a superhero, which makes it a superhero movie. As reductive as that sounds (I appreciate that Logan does very much have influences of other genres, particularly Westerns), at its core it is about people with superhuman powers. I'm not quite sure what I think myself, to be honest, but as much as Logan has been different from other films in the same genre, it still vaguely irritates me that people won't own that superhero movies can be good, if people are given the freedom to do what they want with them. (Also, to be fair, I think there are a few scenes in Logan where violence is used in a gratuitous way, even though it was as visceral and nasty as it ought to have been. IMO it shows that the filmmakers were given leave to use Wolverine's and X-23's claws as often and as messily as they wanted, after a long stretch of not being allowed to do so.)

Best "superhero" film by a long way including the Dark Knight films. Brutal, stunningly violent at times but also not really a "superhero film" - more a film about the inevitably of aging and eventual death. I'm not always a Marvel movies due to them often a series of explosions and Robert Downey Jnr saying something rye. I Logan however I found quite moving and will not deny shedding a tear. there is humor but it's mostly pitch black and it's utterly not child suitable if you gauge it against previous X Men films. I genuinely loved it. possibly my favourite film of the year so far (and that's in a year with some crackers - T2, Get Out, Personal Shopper, Hacksaw Ridge etc)

The movie was almost perfect, I don't know what happened but the 3rd act felt dialed back as soon as the other kids show up. Really wish Liev Schreiber could have returned as Sabertooth in this movie as the big baddy. A very fitting swan song for both Hugh Jackman and Sir Patrick Stewart in their Xmen roles. I laughed more times in this movie than I did in Lego Batman. I hope DC are paying close attention to this and rethink their approach to their live action movies.

A quite entertaining movie but not as engrossing and deep as I would have wished it to be. The roughness of the movie is great, both in its action scene and in its characters, so much so that it is probably the best X-Men movie, the one closest to the comics, but the story is really too common for it to be really great and I personnally feel like the movie suffers from the fact that the X-Men franchise has not been consistent enough throughout the years.

- Drive to location - Have conversation - Sound of approaching vehicles - Needlessly "R-Rated"Action - Drive to new location - Have conversation - etc Still liked it though. I'd rather re-watch The Rover or Blue Ruin though.

I have never seen an x-men film and no nothing about these characters . Can someone that know nothing about them watch it and enjoy it ? . Is i have heard some great reviews . Thanks in advance .

trickykid73 Yup, it's very much a standalone film, and it transcends most super hero films and has far more in common with Christopher Nolan's Batman films. Which just like this you could watch individually and still enjoy them. It's without a doubt not one to miss, this film has no right being this good.

+trickykid73 It enhances the movie a little to know the characters, since it increases the gravity of the situation, also there are some easter eggs and some references. However there is no knowledge of the previous movies required to follow the plot.

You can enjoy it but I think the emotional impact will be significantly lost on you if you haven't seen a single movie featuring the characters before.

‘Logan’ is almost certainly the most thoughtful of the Marvel movies to date, but in essence it’s still Wolverine doing his blood-splatting, blade-wielding thing. As a curtain call for Hugh Jackman and Patrick Stewart the film is apt and ticks a lot of boxes most other sci-fi films don’t know exist. 3/5

It's not a Marvel movie, though, it's a Fox movie with Marvel characters.

Everyone says this film is a remake of a dozen other movies. The whole point of their inclusion was to parallel Logan's story-line, and vice versa. That is how Logan interrogated the superhero genre and set the stage for something better.

I'm not Mary Whitehouse. I love Goodfellas and Oldboy. I'm not a prude. I liked the film. BUT did it really need all the swearing. It was like a young teen who'd just discovered the f-bomb. The whole screaming and slicing thing was effective for a while then it just became tiring. A lot of people are saying its not just a great xmen film but a great film full stop. I disagree , if I hadn't been seeing Charles and Logan since 2000 I doubt I would really care. The girl was good like the film, not great.
