I wrestled Logan in high school, he was the best wrestler I’ve ever faced by a long shot. Great to see how much he’s accomplished in college. Dudes a beast.

Just to clarify a few things, im an ohio state fan, (logan has even stayed at my house). And despite that potential bias I still believe tony got 2 backs, regardless it wouldn't have changed the final result. And for those who say he was pinned, in all divisions of folkstyle wrestling, the shoulder blades must be flat for a 2 count, they clearly were not. Any hope that helps, have a blessed day!

Stieber lost two finals, this and against Oliver. I consider Stieber an excellent wrestler but he lost this one and the other where, bizarrely, Oliver didn't get the take down. I don't even like OK. State, but I remember yelling at the screen at the ref, "what are you waiting for?" That was an easy takedown call for Oliver. He got robbed horribly, the worst call in NCAA finals ever.
@mariofreak9660
@mariofreak9660 3 жыл бұрын
To clarify, he was pinned clearly. It's a quicker call than in HS, and be is clearly flat and done at 7:45. Ramos should have been a two-time champion.

I think Ramos got 2 NF here (these were clearer imo than the ones Ramos got against Graff in the finals the following year), but you can't say for sure Ramos would have won. I still think Stieber would have had the advantage. But the Oliver non-call was downright criminal. As someone who had no dog in that fight, it was a blown call of epic proportions.

I just honestly can’t believe out of all the talent that has come through collegiate D1 wrestling...Logan Stieber is a 4 timer...David Taylor, IMAR, Nolf, Bo Nickal, V. Joseph, Burroughs, Dierenger (to name a few) all had the caliber and dedication to be 4 timers yet they’re NOT! Like you see something like this kind of a title as the pinnacle of collegiate D1 wrestlers and you put THIS guy in that prestigious group??? It just doesn’t make sense man...personal opinion of course.

@@mikejay1385 Art. 1. Fall. A fall occurs when any part of both shoulders or part of both scapulae of either wrestler is held in contact with the mat for *one second.* The one-second count (one-thousand-one) shall be a silent count by the referee and shall start only after the referee is in position to observe that a fall is imminent. (See Table 4.11.1.) From the NCAA wrestling rulebook. Perhaps you should maybe read it if you're a D1 commit, no?

The Brands brothers are elite and some of the best out there but it seems like they feed the hot hand. Ramos was the guy, then Dan Denis came along and it seemed like the Brands’ brushed Ramos aside. Then Gilman was the guy, then Gilman left for PSU/NLWC because Spencer Lee became the guy. I cannot speak all that poorly of the Brands’ as they represent Iowa very well, they produce great talent and I don’t see any of the behind the scenes info. I can only go off of what the wrestlers speak of in interviews. There is a trend that past wrestlers feel as though the Brands’ do indeed feed the hot hand. When the Brands’, specifically Tom, are asked about this kind of stuff happening they tend to avoid the topic.
