The only comfort was that it had a cab. The fact that you had a seat to sit on that wasn't all metal I'm sure was a plus. Very cool finds!

Thank you for showing the old IRON 😊 That JD (544-B) back in 1979 we had 3 on a sewer main line ULID sewer jon in a coastal city. I liked the shuttle control for them. The Forward and reverse were imprint on the metal. They were very good loaders for running pea gravel and work on side of ditch. All the muck they dug out of ditch was loaded on dump truck. They had a huge dump area that they filled with spoils. We backfill with other materials because we dug in the streets and alleyway 😊

Sure would like to get ahold of that 518. Yes, they rode hard but moved a lot of logs. That size was great for jobs that had tight quarters like around houses.

I used to run a 518c. They ride rough as hell. But talk about some damn tough and reliable machines, that they definitely are. As you said, very good for tight quarters. I found the one I ran to be good on steep ground.

Growing up in the western Puget Sound region I've many a D6 with a stump splitter, yet never got to see one in action, I've searched for videos of this type and have come up nil. Thanks for the video.

Looks like that old K had a cab fire. Too bad. Probably moved several mountains in its day.

That was my thought. Looks burned out and then all the discoloration of paint on the frame and back.

Regarding the 518 and the tire size, you were right about them being oversized. They usually came with 18.4x34 or 23.1x26 sizes and the wheels on the left side kinda look like Timberjack colours. Good catch as i was hoping you'd get a good view of them. 24.5x32 is the on that machine Good video. Makes a person wonder what is wrong with the 3155 John Deere farm tractor.
