Mate, you just nail it with these videos. You don't talk too fast, you don't get sidetracked, you don't skip anything. And nonchalantly dropping in a music lesson on rhythm in this episode made me smile and laugh out loud. Showing how to use Logic as a creative tool but covering the tech stuff we need to know. Nicely done. This is better than Netflix.

❤❤❤. Thank you very much for your fabulous new videos on Logic Pro! I really appreciate how you explain things so clearly and most of all, I love how you zoom and focus the display items you are talking about. It is very hard to figure out sometimes what people are explaining because the image on our screens can be fuzzy or too small. Thanks again you are now my favorite Logic instructor.! Thanks for this series. It's fantastic. Would you consider doing a tutorial at some point about using Logic to produce video? Let's say I'm recording my guitar playing into Logic while a camcorder is recording the video. What's the best way of syncing the audio with video and going about editing? Thanks!

@johnbayman6102

Hi, thanks for your hard work, and explanations. I may solve my "problem," maybe not. I have a piece in 2/2 time, and as you know that means the 1/2 note receives the beat. However, Logic's tempo setting still reflect the 1/4 note. If the tempo is 1/2 note = 112 bpm, I am forced to set the tempo at 224--frustrating, annoying and stupid. I can work around, but should not have to. What am I missing? Thank-you.
@MusicTechHelpGuy
@MusicTechHelpGuy Жыл бұрын
To be honest, I'm not sure there is a way to do that. I know in music scores it's very common to have the tempo beat be something other than a quarter note. Especially when using 4/2, 3/2, 2/2, or compound meters like 6/8 or 12/8. However, even when you use compound meters in Logic, it still references the quarter note as the beat for the tempo. I write a lot of stuff in compound meters and I deal with this issue too, but I just end up going with a different tempo than what I would notate on a score. Wish I had an answer for you, but I don't think it can be done, unless there's some hidden tempo preference I'm missing.

Ok, so I'm following along with this and it seems like if I'm zoomed in far enough (like aaallll the way) that it will let me place the playhead anywhere, even between the ticks, EVEN if I still have snap grid (set to ticks) turned on. When I zoom back out just a little, it seems to go back to snapping to the ticks. Does this sound right or am I crazy? I also tried it with the sample snap and the playhead is acting like snap is off but it's not. What am I doing wrong??? Thanks for this series BTW. It's been super helpful so far!!! (Oh, and one other question: Does smart snap mean it will snap to whichever division is closest to the region/playhead when you release your mouse? I assume this is what you mean and it seems to be what it's doing...)

I liked your explanation Bruh. But,Logic pro is lacking in the feature of grid division in swing.It’s the main flaw which I have encountered in Logic Pro X and it is difficult for me to work without the swing division in grid lines.
@MusicTechHelpGuy
@MusicTechHelpGuy Жыл бұрын
Change it to 1/12 or 1/24 for a triplet groove, and follow that grid for swing. Your swing might be slightly ahead or behind the grid line depending on how relaxed or intentional your swing is. You can also quantize to swing values in both the piano roll editor and region inspector.
@whatsupchicken
@whatsupchicken Ай бұрын
After cubase/nuendo 15 years ago when I switched this part of logic was the most annoying/weird thing ever. When I clicked the playhead it went to in between values no matter what I set up at snap to settings so I misaligned regions when I pasted them maybe they fixed that already. It is still set to relative values by default which is just crazy. And when You have a perfectly aligned note or region, the GUI often shows it off the grid. Why the quantize note end is so hidden and cumbersome to use. Crazy. Eventually I got accustomed to it and know how to use it, but the relative value thing is still killing me why it is default and why it is implemented this way. Also why midi chase is not default??? And why these things cannot be changed to default, I know, make templates but still, I feel like despite some new fancy updates they don't actually develop it the way it should. So many outdated things in it even in the 11. Cool video your videos should be included with the purchase.

God I wish I had watched videos on logic years ago. I had been guessing with triplets and then quantizing for years and like a month ago decided to look and see if there was a way to adjust the grid 🤷‍♂️ oh well, better late than never.

🩶 Miracle. So thankful you mentioned the triplet divisions (/12) on the ruler divisions. My intended recording project is all in swing/shuffle and I'm placing kicks and hi-hats (audio segments) and it makes snapping the the swung ones so much easier. Excellent example of Billie Jean (straight) vs The Way You Make Me Feel (swing). Very clear and concise video.
