I hate to be that guy, but for all the people who are saying this is difficult and stupid. I got a break it to you, if you’re gonna use this appropriately you will need to have a little bit of music theory understanding. You can also place points where the key changes in the song to adjust to the chords that you need. You can make prog metal with this which changes timing and keys throughout the track. If you’re unable to get the cord changer to do what you want it’s probably because you don’t understand another portion of logic. You really need to utilize this new tool with all the ones that we had in order to get the full potential.

Well said! This is a very powerful tool in experienced hands. There is some obvious janky things I notice that could be updated, and add more functionality and intuitive gui is something I wouldn’t be opposed to. This is still sick though! But yeah anybody who thinks you can press 3 buttons and get the exact results you want is shooting themselves in the foot

Agreed, the more you know the quicker you'll be able to achieve what you're after, but if you're just getting started it can be a cool learning tool to try out different chords and see what appeals to you (there'll just be more trial and error involved). Cheers Georges

Chord tracks have been in the most basic music recorders and drum machines for decades. You are totally right. Music Theory goes a long way to help a musician get things done.

Exactly what I wanted to know and far more. I could spend all my time learning how to use Logic...or be creative. Despite being a Garageband user forever, I'm struggling in Logic Pro. Every day I watch Logic Pro tutorials. I don't know how much of it sinks in. This was where I was getting hung up with zero knowledge. Thanks.

Not that I can find, but a work around is to input your chords (every measure) and then select all the chords, right click, select "Double Chord Rhythm" which will shorten the length of the chords. Cheers Georges

Sorry if this was discussed in the tutorial but is there a way to convert a midi region into a chord track region? I am talking about a midi region that has no chord labels. In the tutorial where he just drags & drops the region onto the chord track the chords in the region are already labelled. What I am asking for is logic to analyze the midi region, identify the chords and then create a chord track region with that information
@knuckledustermusic
@knuckledustermusic 28 күн бұрын
As far as I can tell that isn’t an option yet unfortunately. I was hoping for this too. Hopefully they’ll add it in the next update. Seems like a no brainer. Cheers Georges

@@knuckledustermusic Yeah, that would make my job much easier cause I prefer to play things in. Come to think about it though, logic's chord detection system can be pretty stupid at times and has little context awareness, so they might need to update it too for this idea to work.

I hope that helps! Cheers Georges

Totally agree... Logic could have waited to release such a dumb implementation, and released it when you could do it both ways ie create your chords and drag those chords to the chord track and voila.... it will be inevitable at some point anyways....

Is there a way to export a chord track to be used in a different project?
@knuckledustermusic
@knuckledustermusic 24 күн бұрын
You can copy the chord track and then paste it into a new project. Unfortunately you can't currently import the chord track like you can with other track settings.

I love the idea of the feature, but the ux is nearly unusable if the chords aren’t nicely 1 chord per bar. Does anyone have any tips? It can’t be used for songwriting because of how clunky it is but just good enough to struggle through if the idea is already composed.
@terje6522
@terje6522 27 күн бұрын
My experience is different. It works very well where chords change off beat and not on the bar lines. In the cases Ive used it, the session players is changing pressing and accents in aa good musical way when you drag the chord change around.

Yes you're right and I'm glad they brought it back and integrated the session musicians with it. I used to create a chord track using blank midi regions as a guide after they got rid of the original chord track.

George im sure you realize Apple logic has dropped the bomb on this one. i tip may hat at your atempt to try to explain the use of this mess. It is totaly tedious and lack of productivity to be limited to inserting chords manually one chord at a time for an entire song. using this chord track for session players is both innovative and idiotic at the same time.
