An easier way top do this is from the arpeggiator. There are two symbols next to the play button in the top left. While the long notes are playing you can drag and drop from the bottom one. :)

Just in case anyone tries this and doesn't see the 'IAC Driver Bus 1' in the External Instruments drop-down: open the Audio MIDI Setup utility in your Mac's Utilities folder (or command-space to Spotlight search for it), open the MIDI Studio window if it isn't open already (in the Window menu item), double-click on IAC Driver and check on the box next to 'Device is online'. There's a chance it's not on by default. I just found this out trying out this Arp to MIDI tip.

You could also create an Alias (in the Functions-Menu) of the recorded Midi-Instrument-Region and drag it to the external track. So Logic will record over that Alias and replace it. You don't have to manually delete the long notes by this way:)

It's even easier if you set the output of the original track to IAC bus, and just set a new track to record with the sound you want. No need to edit or delete any notes in the new track. And you don't need to copy the arpeggiator to the new track. Cheers

@@SEIDS_ The manual is so incredibly dry - thank you for taking the time to break it down into digestible bits for us 🙏

Could I have one track that has midi play another track? In something like Ableton or Bitwig, the MIDI tracks have inputs and outputs, so sending one midi to another channel is easy. I'm new to Logic and would like to know if it has something similar.

How do you copy and paste a midi fx plug in?
@Maradnus7 ай бұрын
you can copy any insert in Logic with its setting. if you hold apple/CMD ALT you can drag & copy the insert.. you can move them while holding apple/CMD too..
