Aaaand... that's why I'm not getting into LPIP and sticking to Logic on Mac. My 8th gen iPad is fine for sketching in GB but I would probably learn to swear in 14 different languages using Logic on it😂. Great vid, Patrick ! 👍

I’m on an iPad 9. My first time using Logic Pro for iPad, I managed to max out the memory with 3 tracks, running stock plugins only. One sampler instrument preset, studio strings, and studio horns both with some articulation. Added chromaverb to both studio instruments, and got the memory limit message. Then I tried auv3 instruments, and was able to get 15 or so tracks with effects, and it was memory that maxed out again before cpu. The memory really seems to be the issue with lower tier ipads, and it seems to be sample based instruments that they struggle with the most from what I can tell.

Bear in mind that both studio strings and studio horns are also both sample based so will be much more memory intensive than your typical soft synth.

11" M1 Pro (or Air) is the perfect middle ground :) Good screen size AND portability, good CPU, good RAM, good speakers, Pencil 2. Gen

This is the one i got! Paid 550 bucks for a mint+ iPad Pro M1 with 256GB and couldn’t be happier! Its perfect for Logic, Procreate and web stuff. 11“ is the perfect middle ground, too.

I have an M1 Pro 11inch 512, and that has never broken sweat either. Unlike my Macbook Pro, which overloads for fun.

Im doing classic country americana. Think johnny cash meets the white stripes. Most of the time 16 tracks mainly audio vis only drummer and maybe a organ piano or Rhodes sim. So the 8th would probably work for me right. Im using a first gen pro and it wont work need a new ipad

Simply add your presets to yo file management app, den drag n drop into logic on wateva desired track. Way easier den fl’s method

Personally, I’d recommend one with a USB-C port, especially if you plan to use and audio interface as connectivity is much more straightforward. What kind of budget are you working with?

Is it just me or do Auv3 instruments run worse on logic than on gb? I can barely use them on logic because they keep crashing. Is there a way to fix this or at least make it not as common?

Some definitely do yes, though a small update by the App developers is usually all that’s needed to fix.

@@T0M3665 it’s worth reaching out to the developers of specific apps you’re having trouble with. Most iOS App developers are really approachable and appreciate constructive customer feedback.

@@TheLogicProGuideTurns out they actually did get the updates. Guess my iPad just hates auv3. Maybe it’s because it’s an older 8th gen. Planning on getting a new one anyway.

Good to know that my 8th Gen will run Logic Pro,....but, it has only 32GB of storage. My 7th Gen, of course, can't even install Logic Pro, but it has 128GB of storage (which is why I bought it AFTER the 8th Gen). That was before Apple blew everyone away with Logic Pro for iPad. Hmmm....what to do? I've been thinking about buying a MacBook Air next year, but now I'm thinking a top of the line iPad Pro makes better sense. Then again, I already have an 8th Gen iPad that will run Logic Pro and I can get the best external flash drive/SSD to make up for the 32GB, and spend less money doing it. Sounds like a plan!
