Finally someone said it out loud! I've been writing about it in comments under various videos for years... the sample browser in Logic has been simply bad for years, I'm waiting for the day when they finally make it the same as in Ableton or FL Studio

They need to see this video!!! If they figure out the sample browser thing and make it like it is in Fruity Loops it would be the best DAW!

Loopcloud is amazing. Lightening fast and even tempo warps any loop. You can manage your sample library also

No, you’re exactly right. It’s been like that for far too long and it’s strange that there’s other things like this in there that never get fixed. Then there’s odd limits like Drum Machine Designer only having 48 sample slots when DAWs like Ableton have 128 sample slots for slicing and chopping. Why have Apple limited it?

One of the reasons I stick with Beatmaker 3 on iPad for making beats. Based on what was in the announcement video, they didn’t fix this for iPad.

It really be nice since we pay a subscription if we could get basic functions even fl mobile has a decent file browser and we need to talk about these bugs

You gotta also take into consideration that the mobile app version of computer software is very limited of what it can do. You can do a lot more and a lot more on a computer because a tablet for example is limited hardware

I saw this video, props Bolo, and it lit a switch in my head. Why isn't this Logic device used more like say, an Elektron Digitakt? I love my Elektron Digitakt, as a sampler, and am super interested in getting into the MPC workflow, props again to you Bolo, and love that I can use my Digitakt like an instrument to jam along to music with. For example, take Daft Punk's newly released album: Random Access Memories (drumless). It's the same album, minus drums. What might a nerd like me get into? Add some drums along to it, in real time, to get the feel, play the feel, and learn through that. Super fun right? So, I started playing my digitakt to song, to get a feel for playing the sampler, like a guitarist plays to a song, or a bassist plays to a song (jamming). And then I started tripping on the fact that logic does this sort of clunky. You give a good example of this with your point: auditioning sucks! No soul. No groove. I then ran into the problem - in Logic - of wishing to do Tap Tempo. Tap Tempo should be a freaking feature that's prominent to the layout of Logic. It would be fun to have more fast acting features prominent to the application. I figured out how to add Tap Tempo, but just being able to use logic to sync to a pre-existing song/beat should be way more focused on. Logic too much about long distance, eagle's eye view editing, that it forgets the more immediate use, of zooming in - I think - and of playing the software DAW like an instrument, like a sampler does, like I am guessing an MPC does. And, there's no reason why it can't be otherwise, right?

It seems like only beatmaker 3 got the file management for ipad right. Atleast between the ios apps ive tried (BM3, Logic, IMPC2)

Hey dude, great video. I definitely agree with you. One technique you could use to find your ideal kick, commonly employed by Ableton users, is to send the kicks you like to the DMD (Drum Machine Designer) and then program them in the piano roll using MIDI. Your first kick would be assigned to C1, the second to D1, the third to E1, and so on. Then, you can cycle through the kicks using the arrow keys with no latency. However, I do agree with your point that Logic has one of the weakest sample libraries on the market (and I've been using Logic as my DAW for 11 years now). Being someone who has designed software for companies, there is probably a backlog of features that’s on deck to work on, but the browser situation is probably something that’s a heavy lift. And logic for Mac is probably built on top of a lot of old code but the iPad version is probably where they want the desktop version to eventually go. But they would have to redo a lot of old stuff just to get up to speed. So that’s probably why it’s taking so long for old features to change.

Drives me nuts that I can’t search my audio files and pull in whatever I need into a track. The “ slide over” is very fussy if yu don’t grab and hold down right spot. I’ve also not found a way to start a logic project from an audio file itself iOS version .I’ve been remastering and editing a bunch of old tracks so I want to open a project with the track I’m listening to.

Logic is the shit! It should be the new industry standard not Pro Tools. I hope they don't ever go to a strictly subscription service and ruin it. Pro Tools used to be my go to but it has so many problems especially the udpates. I don't really know why people still use it.

I also hate how you have to convert all your 32 bit drum samples to 24. Nowadays, most kits are 32 bit. Converting files makes it sound different too. I dont want that

I’m a multi platinum producer/writer with 3 billion streams to my name. The best advice I could give to upcoming producers is: “Do not use logic”. I’ve used it all my life but I’m changing now. You can’t trust logic not to change your sounds, corrupt projects etc and you can’t trust apple to give a damn about fixing bugs.

The browser and the mixer on Mac need to be updated so fuckin bad. They’re awful. The mixer needs to be able to be resized and/or the ability to zoom in on it. It’s 2024 and I shouldn’t have to be squinting or changing the resolution to some weird number to see the mixer.

Maaaaaan, I wish they would fix this. I open the Maschine software to browse my sounds and drag them into the Logic drum sequencer. lol It's a headache. Other than that, Logic is great.

Are they purposely rebelling against fixing that, or is it just too difficult? Do we deserve an answer or at least a proposed timeline? What is the reasoning behind adding things nobody asked for and still not do the 1 thing everybody keeps asking for? Where is the logic in that? The most I can give logic now is 1 thumb up, 1 thumb down. If they don’t straighten up, many people will be giving them 1 finger up. 🎹♥️

On another note they have not added ARA in native logic. It's been 4 years and people are frustrated. Can't use Melodyne or Synchrony Arts Vocaline. Yes it can be used in rosetta but we are past rosetta. where is the Logic in that.

Been a Logic user since 1997 and over the last decade I'm not liking how it's just becoming so full of bloat. Ever since they turned it into a glorified version of Garageband it's pretty hefty on the useless features. What made Logic great is that it used to be for serious musicians. Now it's a DAW for those who wake up one morning wanting to be a "producer". It feels like a toy now as opposed to a professional tool.
