The music for the Screen Gems "dancing sticks" logo (1963-1966) was composed by Frank DeVol. He composed the TV themes My Three Sons, Family Affair, and other shows. He wrote the theme for a film called "The Happening". The critics hated it. The film did rather poor at the box office. But with the help of Motown's writers and producers Holland-Dozier-Holland, and Diana Ross and The Supremes singing the title song, it went to number one on the pop charts in 1967!! While the kids may have been scared of the Screen Gems S logo with the electronic music, I loved it. I had no problems with it, I felt it was rather futuristic for its time. I like the Columbia sunburst logo and the Columbia-Tristar combo despite the boxes. The Columbia Torch Lady still can be seen in movie beginnings even though TV dumped her. Thanks for this interesting and sometimes humorous look at TV and movie logos.

Sony Pictures Television shows which is me and my family watch: Bewitched, Walker, Texas Ranger, The Nanny, Beakman's World, The Three Stooges and Totally Tuned In (which is classic Columbia Pictures cartoons and The Fox and The Crow cartoons).

Actually, Screen Gems began as Columbia's animation studio. Then it became it's tv division.

The theme music used at 7:35 was a more majestic version of the synthesizer theme Sony Pictures Television uses today. Listen to the two side-by-side and you'll hear the similarities.

In the "S from hell", it's not just the music though, it's the eye formed in the S. Y'know, it shouldn't feel comfortable watching some kind of an eye, staring at you in front of your TV.

Columbia wasn't fully rebranded, the Torch Lady 3.0 got hit by a banana in the start of Cloudy with a chance of Meatballs (2009)
