Fun thing. Laufey is actually a womans name. Loki from norse myth was named after his mother and not his father. In the comics, Laufey was his father and Farbauti his mother, but in myth they were reversed by Farbauti being the father and Laufey his mother. As to why Loki decided to go by his mother for his last name is because Farbauti was a giant but Laufey an Aesir (Asgardian), so going by his mothers name reminded the other gods that he was at least half Aesir too.

Tom has been showing his skills since the first Thor movie, honestly. The scene of him realizing that he's actually a Frost Giant and Odin tells him his true origin is one of the best scenes across the MCU, imo.

He didnt seem to mind dressing up as a bridesmaid when Thor, disguised as Freya, went to marry the giant Trym to get Mjollner back. In fact, he pretty much volonteered without a second thought.

They really are. I just read Neil Gaiman's book about the myths. All the gods are arseholes to be fair but Loki is definitely the tricksiest of the lot and all of his tales were good fun. TH embodies that 'mythic' Loki so well, i could really picture him doing all that stuff as i read along. Even getting pregnant by a horse just to win a bet - haha.

No. In the Norse Edda, Loki was a shapeshifter, as befitting a Trickster God, who could change his appearance as disguises but most often turned into animals. He never was "genderfluid", because he never considered himself as anything than male. He did turn into a mare to lure away the stallion of a Jotun mason (one of the various tribes of Giants: Fire giants, Frost Giants, Stone Giants, technically even the Aesir of Asgard and Vanir of Vannaheim who had settled in Asgard and called themselves "Gods of Midgard" were "Giants") who had been hired by Odin to build the wall around Asgard. The price was supposed to be the hand in marriage of the Aesir goddess Idun, who guarded the Golden Apples the gods of Asgard ate to stay immortal. The contract said he would only be paid if he managed to built the wall in a certain number of days, and the gods had reckoned he wouldnt manage that all on his own and he's build most of it and they'd then close the gap later. But his stallion was magical and carried all the stones. So as the wall was nearing completion, Thor considered killing the Giant with his hammer, but Loki cautioned against it because that might have triggered a war. So instead Loki turned into a mare in heat, lured the stallion away, but became pregnant a a horse and found he couldnt turn back until the foal was delivered. The foal was the eight-legged Sleipnir, which became Odin's horse, and Loki gained the mock-name of "horse-mother" to his chagrin.

Also a neat callback to the comics where it was explained that when you take infinity stones out of their respective universes, they don't work. I remember reading that way back in the day

Or presumably she is (or would be in another universe) The Enchantress -- also from the Thor comics -- but she was accidentally drafted into Loki's role in her timeline because in her timeline baby Loki was never adopted by Odin. As _Marvel's What If...?_ animated show has shown, sometimes people are in the wrong place at the wrong time and then fill the "role" of someone else on the "Sacred Timeline" and the actual person who should be there is either dead or never born or ends up living a different life entirely.

Technically X-men '97 is connected to mcu but not directly seeing yatu the watcher can be seen in a episode of '97 (don't remember which)
