You’ve probably seen this comment twenty times already, but the scene where Xion’s hood kept going up and down was because it was through different characters POV’s throughout the scene. Axel couldn’t see her true face until he saw her as a friend, where as Roxas already could.

@@Lakross101 Wouldn't call that stupid at all, dare I say it's actually clever. You're not supposed to know that Xion appears differently depending on whose looking at her until towards the end of the story. When you put two and two together later on you realize that the hood being on and off was the first clue and it wasn't a game glitch/error.

@@meteornome2556 exactly, its one of those nods that makes you enjoy going back to the game after beating it, or after beating other games, like Naminé's drawing of Roxas, Axel and Xion being visible inside the mansion during KH2 or Xigbar saying Sora is not half the keyblade wielder "the others" were (pretty much everything Xigbar related lol) Also just noticed here but the fact that Roxas' starts feeling weird in castle oblivion saying he feels "something" there, could be........

As if this game isn’t sad enough the DS version was the last piece of media to feature Wayne Alwine as the voice of Mickey. He died 12 days before the game cane out in japan which is why all the international versions that use his voice has “desire to the memory of Wayne Alwine” in the credits. To make things even sadder his wife was the woman who played Minnie mouse and she died in 2019

"Go on, you just keep running! But I'll always be there to bring you back!" is still to this day probably my favorite line in the entire series. This game is made even more emotional by the fact it came out after KH2, meaning we know *something* happened to Xion for her to not even be mentioned in the future, just not *what*. Just an absolutely beautiful tragedy of a story.

OMG yes! That scene has always hit me as one of the most powerful in the entire series, but I never see anyone talk about it. Cause Axel loves Roxas and Xion and wants them to be happy, but they can't be until they find out their true identities and purposes. Except pursuing those answers will inevitably lead to their dooms, so on one hand Axel wants to help and support them, but on the other hand doing so will ultimately mean losing them. And you can really hear all this pain and frustration in his line "You both think you can do whatever you want, well I'm sick of it!" Cause if Roxas and Xion could just stop and be content then they could all continue to exist and be together just like Axel wants, but that's just not possible. And so he's angry with them both for ripping their own friend group apart("well I'm sick of it!") but it's only because he loves and supports them both ("I'll always be there to bring you back!"). There's just so many feelings and layers packed into that one scene, I love it so much!

Btw Xion names also sounds like the name of plant called Shion , a plant thats connected to "Remebrance", Shion also means "Don't forget me", "i wont forget you" or "Forget me not" Aaaand also sounds like Shione, which means Tide or the sound of the tide, which connects her to Kairi and Namine.

On wikipedia I found this when looking up the Shion flower. "In Japan, Aster tataricus is known as shion, or 紫苑. The flower has a meaning in hanakotoba, the Japanese language of flowers, which corresponds to "I won't forget you."[4]" This hurts so much and is so cleverly done.

This game was a masterclass in excruciating pain. Beginning to ending, it is nothing but exquisite heartache. It’s just Nomura sitting there like a jackass and using his fingers to twist that damn knife deeper and deeper with each of the days. Horrible as the pain is, this bit of story is absolutely crucial to the overall story as a whole. This is the game that really broke me in the series. There is just no bandage in the universe big enough to help that pain

Xion's fate in Days is to this day the worst fate I can possible imagine. More than literally anything else, our memories and the memories that others have of us is our identity; who we are. I cannot imagine a death more true than the very memory of your existence being erased from history.

i always interpreted "no. i" as meaning "number i" aka "imaginary number" as in a number that doesn't truly exist on its own.

That is the right interpretation. No. is shorthand for number and i is an imaginary number used in math. I’m pretty sure they explicitly stated this at some point in 358/2 Days lmao

I love this game and I am mad they cut out some great things. Like Roxas meeting the Twilight Town crew for the first time, Saïx being the only one who bothered to stop him from leaving, Xion’s other three forms that you fight across multiple worlds, also just the little things that the game had like spending time with the other Organization members, exploring the worlds with Roxas having his own thoughts out there which really shaped the world building so much, the huge amount of playable characters and weapons! They need to remake it properly someday.

I love how they build the organization member's personalities. Going on wacky adventures in wonderland with Luxord (they have fun), Xion and Roxas fighting with sticks and Demyx being lazy in Olympus Colosseum. The official manga (yes, and PLEASE read it) tells so much fluff life stories of the organization. Saix writes poetry on the org computer. Every one hates Xemnas' stupid boring speeches. Lexaeus likes to cook. Luxord and Xaldin are high on wonderland mushrooms. I love them all.

@@FuckKZfaqAndGoogle 358 1/2 is sad since they don't have hearts but are desperate to be friends and have a bond when 2/3 of them arent meant to exist with one being abused and degraded and the other being essentially dead in the beginning since his regular body (Sora) was already complete and just wanting to have some kind of purpose. At least the BBS trio could REMEMBER each other

After this, Roxas carries two keyblades, the second keyblade is Xion's keyblade, and the design of the keyblades also has a reason. He carries the keyblades named oblivion and oathkeeper. Oathkeeper is because in the original game, Roxas had a journal, in it after finishing he made a promise of reunite his friends again, oblivion because he forgot someone dear to him. Something curious, oblivion in spanish is named "recuerdos lejanos" which translates to "far memories", that makes more sense for Roxas to have it because he was clinging to the last memories of him happy with Xion and Axel.

It also ties him back to Sora, as Oathkeeper and Oblivion are also associated with Kairi and Riku. The keyblades having multiple meanings is one of my favorite choices they KH team made.

@@absollum AND, just like they represent Riku and Kairi's relationships with Sora, they can also represent Roxas's relationships with Xion and Axel: Xion is lost to oblivion, not even remembered, and Axel is an oath keeper - he'll always be there to bring his friends back.

the hood scene is funny, like it's showing xion the way she looks to both roxas and axel at different times but it just looks like xion's not sure if she should wear the hood or just keep it off. it's like me wearing a hoodie, very relatable.

358/2 Days and Birth By Sleep are the Kingdom Hearts games that lowkey broke me. It's painful playing through the game and witnessing tragedy. The trio from both games deserve better. And the most infuriating thing is that all their suffering are caused directly and indirectly by that damn Xehanort. Xehanort to Kingdom Hearts is like what Dio is to Jojo Bizarre Adventures. A villain that is so so hateful and with a reach and impact so far-reaching, that even after his defeat, the repercussions of his actions can still be felt well into the future. A truly well written villain indeed.

I thought the same as you in regards to Xion = No. I = No one. But its actually Number i. As everyone in the organization has numbers, her's is i and, in math class, we learn that the number i is actually imaginary number. Hence, Xion is "imaginary," doesn't exist.

That nickname you thought was so cute is actually major foreshadowing for the game and Xigbar being cruel, but at the same time cocky, knowing they won't figure out what he means. The word Poppet has 2 definitions, the more modern slang term of poppet means a sweet and cute girl, but we know Xigbar doesn't see Xion as a girl. Xigbar is instead referring to the original definition of poppet, a figure of a human used for magic, referring to voodoo dolls. From the very beginning of the game Xigbar tells you that Xion is a puppet to control someone's magic, confident that Roxas, and the player, won't realize the truth. And he's right, even studying this game I never realized the meaning for the longest time until I realized it sounded like puppet. Just that subtle bit of writing shows how this really is the best written Kingdom Hearts game.

Roxas was born on day 1. 358 days on the job, plus his week in the computer before being absorbed by Sora---Roxas was only alive for a year before losing his identity. And no one remembers Xion.

I played this game with no knowledge of amy of the others. This game was the first game I ever played that actually made me sad. I didn't understood why. When I got older I did. Now its even more beautiful. I will love this story to the end

This game will remain my favorite since it was released on DS in 2009, I was 7 years old it marked me all my youth, the music have a lot in the nostalgic and sad atmosphere of this game because the moments of joy are always imbued with a certain nostalgia. The version of Dearly Beloved 358/2 days is proof of this, this introduction music places us directly in this atmosphere. The dialogues are beautiful, really I advise you to do it on DS.

It may have already been mentioned, but "No. i" may also be a reference to the imaginary number is mathematics. So that would be another reference to Xion's character. Nomura is even pulling from math to bring is tears.

This one always hits me the hardest, I played this game when it first came out in 2009 and I was only 10 years old. My story comprehension was finally intact enough to actually understand what was going on, and I distinctly remember how heavy it all felt

I will say if you ever want to, I would recommend reading the manga for this game, it is an incredible read and adds even more personality to the characters, and it is so emotional, if you want an example of some events I will post one event below. Xion runs into Pluto during a mission and finds him so cute that she and Roxas brings him back to head quarters.

I was 100% with Roxas here 36:29. With Days being my first KH game, I didn't know who Sora was either. (was a little disappointed when I first played Re:Coded thinking I was going to play as Roxas Lol. I really thought he was the main character.)

The No. i thing is actually even worse than what you came up with. It means number i. In mathematics, i is used to denote the square root of a negative number and is known as an imaginary number. Even to Nobodies who do not exist, Xion was simply imaginary. The Organization believed that she existed less than anybody else in it.

Kingdom Hearts has always been pretty emotional. But this part of the series is the equivalent of Nomura introducing you to a neat character, you getting to know and love this character... Only for him to take her out to the back, you hear a loud bang, and he comes back later saying that character went to a farm out of town.

Xion’s hood scenes when she loses her keyblade- I just realized it switches because of Axel’s and Roxas’ perspectives. Roxas is a mix of Sora and Ventus (you’ll understand if you play / watch Birth By Sleep) so he sees Xion as Kairi with black hair (Vanitas influence). Axel hadn’t gotten close enough with Xion yet, so he only saw her with her hood up. Then with Axel becoming close with Roxas and having encountered both Ven and Sora in the past, he later saw Xion in the same appearance that Roxas did once they became friends too. Though, the other organization 13 members each saw her differently as well. I think Xemnas and Xigbar saw her as Ven 🤔

xion second boss stage still gives me nightmares because of ragnarok too. Theres no proof of this but im convinced xion is twilight thorn, doing to roxas, what he does to sora in kh2. they fight to stay their own being. Also xion is best girl :')

when people recommended her to play this it was same thing when people ask wholesome happy animes and other people just drop bombs like your lie in april (i do it everytime personally because why would i spare others from suffering that i had to go through)

FINALLY FINALLY FINALLY OMG MY FAVORITE. So i got this game when it came out and despite having lost my ds and the copy of 358 I originally had, i was able to beat it before then. This game had such a cool (and WAY EASIER) upgrade system than most modern rpgs. It sucks that you can’t find a way to play this, but the “movie” with 1.5/2.5 is good, I just wish Squeenix gave a shit about possibly remastering those titles, especially cuz 3DDD got that!! Serious BS! I had a lot of loss in the family/loss of friends when I played through this game. It taught me how to grieve, how to become stronger from it, it taught me to cherish what (and who) I have with me, no matter what happens. Ugh 358/2 is one of the best goddamn Kingdom Hearts games.

KH 358/2 was baby's first existential angst/dread for me and it doesn't hit any less hard years later especially with the remastered music and cutscenes
